Bob McNair said yesterday during the news conference that the team will have a new head coach by the end of Jan. If need be, due to the amount of job openings in the NFL could be quicker.

I think the trouble that Detroit got into was that they didnt interview a single minority candidate (so called Rooney Rule) The GM Millen was fined for not following the league rules.

I guess, in theory, we could interview all the candidates this week and hire one, without breaking any rules. Whether this would be a smart move, that's an entirely different matter

I think the end of Jan. is good timing. We don't want to rush things but we also want the coaching staff to evaluate the talent, build a scheme and find out where their holes are so they can fill them in fa and the draft.

I think not. However, permission to do so is possible.

We are probably not going to sign anyone until after the Super Bowl.

IF they are on a bye this week can ask their team, BUT other team can say no. Kubiak is on a bye and Denver said ok to talk to him.

Actually did interview one (Art Shell), but they had already made it clear they were picking Marrucci. So NFL threatened next team that does it.

I believe they're trying to get it done much sooner than end of Jan but have allowed themselves that much time if needed. With the number of spots open they are well advised to act quickly.
