Default A.J. Hawk

I was wondering, what position would he play in our 3-4 defense? I mean he has good lateral movement and is one of the best tacklers in the nation. Plus he runs in the 4.5 area.

I think AJ HAwk would be better suited in the ILb position. The 'proto type' olb in the 3-4 are usually defensive ends in college.

given the coaching changes that are about to happen, we're not even for sure that we'll even use the 3-4 next year...

I personally see Hawk as more of an OLB, a more athletic guy that can be used more in pass rushing and coverage than a stout, sure tackler that clogs the middle on running plays. I really don't see many, if any, good ILB prospects in this draft, and it's unfortunate because we have enough decent OLBs and have no real MLBs on our team.

Casserly said the other day on 610 that Hawk could play any backer position
in the 4-3, but only ILB in the 3-4 because he has no experience as a
pass rusher.

Anyone watching the Fiesta Bowl? He didn't look like a top 5 pick just then. That was pretty bad, actually.

Brady Quinn pretty much gave him that sack. He had both of those guys in the air ... he should have ran it in rather than sitting there waiting to get landed on.
