This may come across as a ludicrous survey... but believe it or not there is a lot of debate in San Diego as to what we should do regarding our QB situation. Some are claiming that while Drew Brees is good, he is not great... and believe that Philip Rivers should be given the reigns. Others believe that Brees has shown himself to be a top 10 or even top 5 QB in the NFL and statistically, the odds of Rivers being better are rather remote.
Anyway... I have already gotten my response from the Detroit Lions I'm curious... if you had the opportunity to obtain either Drew Brees or Philip Rivers, which would you take... and why? Anyone curious as to what brought this on, feel free to visit: http://forum.signonsandiego.com/uplo...ad.php?t=55974 Thanks in advance |

In this case I would have to say, what has Rivers done to earn it? Not like Brees is towards the end of his career, heck the guy is just starting out.

brees easily. brees knows the team, is learning to manage games, is doing well statistically, and has earned a pro-bowl trip already. he's found his crutch in antonio gates and can win games even when LT's not doing well. why would you want to mess that up? the chargers did a great job and are a team i use as an example of what the texans should do. yall rebuilt the O-line & got a TE to hit his stride in 04 and all of a suddon a qb on his way out goes to the probowl while the team wins 12 games. heck he's also only 2years older than rivers & yall have the 4th ranked scoring offense in the league (top 10 in nearly every main category).
the question is ludicrous.

I'd keep Brees since he's proven but also you could probably get more for Rivers in a trade .If I'm not mistaken Rivers has a delivery like Carr's this is not so good .

If I take Rivers, do I also have to take his contract? If so, I'll take Brees.

I'll answer you this way. There's an old saying "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush".
