Wine and flowers are on the line in a bet over the outcome of the Rose Bowl.

Top-ranked USC will face number two Texas on January 4 in Pasadena, Calif.

The friendly wager is between Texas Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and her Golden State counterpart, Dianne Feinstein.

It's interesting that they're doing this but I hate these kinds of things. You know who made me sick of these? Mayor "Tootsie", Kathy Whitmire.

That buffoon was on the air (every single time) five minutes after the Rockets, Astros, or Oilers made the playoffs talking about a wager she'd just made. I swear she had some kind of fixation with trying to bet some "Texas BBQ versus a big pot of Boston Baked Beans (or whatever, I don't even remember)" that our team beats yours.

It was stupid and corny then and it's almost as dumb now. Not quite, but close.

I prefer the wagers with the threat of public humiliation. If your a politician wanting to make a bet, then make it worthwhile. If your team loses then sing the national anthem at that teams home game next year while wearing their jersey, or something along those lines.
