The Houston Texans have their final game of this dismal 2005 season one week from Sunday. Dom Capers will more than likely be gone by next season, but how long do you think it will take before he finally is officially fired. I'm not sure if there are any rules that prevent McNair from firing Capers within the week (because of the publicity it would take away from the playoffs), but if there isn't, I would not be surprised to see him gone by January 7, 2006. What are your thoughts.

Come on people. You got it all wrong.
Capers will be fired immediately after the San Francisco game.

I am pretty sure his resume is canned after this season anyway, so before the san fran game, after the super bowl, whenever, it is sure time for a career change, or go and join the coaching staff in an euro league

So does McNair fire just Capers? (assuming Casserly is leaving too?) Probably not. So does McNair drop the hammer on both at once, or does he fire Casserly first and let the new GM's first order of business be to fire Capers later? He would only do that if the new GM was ready to assume duties immediately. I doubt McNair would let Capers twist too long in that scenario. Just some thoughts. |

No he wouldn't. Our defense is terrible. The palyers don't get motivated for him. What would possibly lead you to believe he woudl be a good DC for us?

i'd give capers a week after the 9'ers game before he's fired and casserly a week after the rose bowl. what might seem odd, is i'd love to keep both. not at their current positions of course, but moved around in the hierarchy. casserly IMO would excell in a vp of football operations (money) position and capers is defined as a defensive coordinator. if mcnair has the uncanny ability to do this we'd be in good shape IMO. with a do or die oriented head coach like i think gary kubiak is, along with a relatively strong backup staff (dom as DC, new OC, hoke DB, marciano ST, new OL) ... we'd be in a VERY good position to maximize potential.

our defense isnt terrible. We have talent there.. its being misused.
Id love Dom as our DC but it wont happen.. too ackward. He will be fired immediatly after the SF game.. like.. the next day kind of immediatly. And it wont be because McNair cant wait to let him go.. it will be out of respect so that Dom can start talking to other clubs as soon as possible. |

Our D-line is above average, and does their job in the 3-4. Unfortunatly we have no LB's that can get to the QB. We have the potential for a sucessful Defense with a few more pieces. The players are still motivated enough to win games for Capers, even after the season is tanked. He would not be required to be a complete leader as a DC, and would be able to work more on the 3-4 we have built our team around. ...plus his initials are DC...

Capers will be gone by Monday Morning after the game. I wish him the best of luck. He will be a DC somewhere in probably 2 years if not sooner. I doubt he will ever be another head coach. Unless there is another expansion team

The thought process would be Dom would resign during the week after the end of the season. At that point Cowher and a couple of other HCs would call him and say do you want a DC or LBcoach posistion. Think about this SD, Pitt, Washington, Chicago, and SF could be losing those posistions. They are some of the hottest names out there right now for HC jobs. Good luck Dom, and hopefully you will stay a DC for years.
