Did Carr call Pendry out or did Pendry call Carr out? Did Reeves ask Pendry to give Carr the reigns for a half and for him to keep the reigns for a half. Why should there be all of this hopla in the news about Carr calling the 1st half and Pendry the 2nd? The number of players coming to the fore and talking about what a great job Carr did has me puzzled. I don't think this kind of information from any other team would necessarly be outed like this publically. As I have stated Carr is not the type of person who would state publically what he thought, but that's not what he might do in pirvate.

I wonder if this might be a senario based on what we have seen. Carr went privately to Pendry and complained. In front of the players when game time approached or whenever Pendry decided to embarrass Carr by putting it all on his shoulders figuring that he couldn't handle it. The players and Carr rallyed around each other and proved Pendry wrong. Apparently there was an abudenance of discussion about plays in the huddle which was not normal and information was being provided about what the defense was doing. That's invalueable information to a play caller and makes sense to make if you feel your input will have some impact on what play will be called or if you feel you can help your team. That's why a guy like Manning can be so effective. He has his spies on the field telling him what's happening. A coach really doesn't get that input, or if he does, not as quickly as the on field.

Now if Pendry had intended this as a coming out for Carr, in my estimation, if Carr had been successful he would have let it continue. He didn't and that leads me to believe he was unhappy and didn't plan on Carr having any success. Now the cat is out of the bag and what do they do? Again this has a funny smell to it. What is Reeves reading into this? I could see David upsetting the apple cart this way. He just went out and showed them what he can do. Its a polite in your face.

I bet he said "If I'm gonna take a butt kicking every week then I believe I should have a say in how or how it's not gonna happen." I believe all his sacks came in the second half didn't they? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

That I don't know, but I know a lineman can go to his Qb and say I'm getting killed, because this guy is ... and then run something to take advantage of it. I have always felt QB's at the NFL level should be calling their own game. Yes, there are tendancies and a lot of other things that go into, but coaches do not have that instaneous feedback that the QB has. They also don't have a view of the field from the QB's prospective. I'm not saying they shouldn't have input just like the rest of the players, but for the most part it's the QB who has the best position to put it all together if he has the smarts. Most of these QB's are not dumb nor are the O-linemen for that matter. Of course the TV sponsers might not like that, because the game would probably be at a faster pace because they wouldn't have to wait for the call to come in from the bench.............

Here is what it smells like to me...Pendry got "encouraged" to try the let Carr experiment thing which he agreed to but probably did not fully buy into...things went better than he imagined they would (helped along more than a little from our best defensive performance of the year) and then he regressed into his natural "I can call them better than you (meaning more conservative, less risk etc...) mentality".

Also, I believe DC (to his considerable credit given everything he has been put through here) is "a company man" so I doubt he has or will do anything that runs against what his coaches ask him to do.

Bottomline...no conspiricy here IMO just another indication of Pendry's philosophy/thinking on display in the second half. Congrats to DC and whoever's idea it was to take a bit from the playbook of the best team in football to see if it would help...it is that type of thinking (vs just more of the same but just execute better thinking) that we need. Now guys...please ask Bradford to take a seat next to Coleman, let DD heal, stay with the no huddle, and let Ragone and Hollings know to get ready for the '49ers and I for one will be really impressed.

It is not in Carr's character to come out and say anything. This was all Reeves, in my opinion. Hopefully, now that someone has given Carr a taste of what can be, maybe we will see more to come or give Carr a platform to develop his voice in the locker room. A half against the Cradinals does not make a game, season or career.

I don't know who gave Carr the leeway, but damn why couldn't it happened about 10 games ago????
