I for one applaud Mcnair for the hire of Reeves, and am wondering why some of the fans don't agree with it. It is obvious that Bob does not trust Charlie and is in a tuff situation with the possibilites of the draft and with #8 and the large bonus. To be honest I was more bothered when the thought was that Bob was gonna just go throughout the year and not do anything. Bob wants nothing else than to own a winner and give the fans of Houston something to be proud to call there own. I've been a fan since day one and have been a season ticket holder since the 2nd season do to the first year living in Philly. (but went to the the Vet to see them play, not wearing anything of the Texans and I'm sure most of you know why) To be honest, the off-season moves will be a big determining factor on whether or not I renew my tickets. To make a long story short Mr. Mcnair is doing the right things to turn the franchise around. Those are my thought, curious on what you guys think?

Pro McNair until he goes Bud Adams, Tom Benson, Jerry Jones, Art Modell, or early Dan Snyder on us.

I like Mr. McNair's decision to hire Reeves as a consultant.
He's growing into being an owner. He's learned that other NFL owners aren't the best place to get advice on how to run his team, and he's learned that certain people in the NFL might not be all that their reputation says. With Reeves he's got a proven football mind (with championship pedigree) that can be a valuable third opinion about different aspects of his team. And it's a perspective that is loyal to him as an owner, without any hidden motives (like keeping a job). I think we'll have a winning team in Houston, because our owner won't give up until we're there. Mr. McNair wants to win as much as any of us. Can't be upset with that!

My only complaint is that it should have been done long ago. By the 3rd game we knew what we were in for. In hinesight McNair probably tried to make a move when he met with JJ during the hurricane afair, but was probably turned down. I suspect there was more to that event than meets the eye.

I never questioned the hiring of Reeves. I only questioned the manner in which he did it. Not informing his employees before he announced it publicly is what I questioned.

IMHO, there wasn't ANY way it could happen WITHOUT irritating Cass and/or Capers. On the plus side, seeing how they react professionally to adversity tells you a LOT about their character. Despite John McClain's misgivings, I don't think McNair lost any respect from those that really matter. What's the worst thing that could happen? Casserly & Capers start spreading rumors about how bad McNair is to work for? Who wouldn't think it was all "sour grapes" at this point? To that, you've got Reeves, a fairly respected coach to tell them otherwise (granted, he might say things to look GOOD to McNair). |

Did anyone happen to see the end of the Fox pregame show when H. Long was asking JJ what owners have contacted him and then TB began to kid with him about the amount of money that Mcnair was offering. JJ just laughed and said that he won't coach anymore. Funny though

Jerry ain't afraid to spend money...I think he gave Bill an offer he couldn't refuse. He also had no choice really...he needed a big name coach to come in and clean up the mess left by the last few coaches; somebody that knew how to draft and knew how to get the best out of his players. Mr. McNair is nobody's fool. I'm sure he'll spend whatever needs to be spent and get the best coach here for the best results. I'm wavering on Coach Reeves. I'm not quite sure if he's being put in a position to be that guy or if they'll go with somebody else. I do think Coach Capers is gone and probably Mr. Casserly also. And for some reason I believe Jimmy is sincere in not wanting to coach right now. Maybe he'll change his mind in a year or so but I don't think he's lying about not coaching next year. |

I'm just curious. Let's just say for discussion sake Jimmy and Bob are lying and Jimmy was offered the job...ok Jimmy it's yours for the asking..you can be GM too...etc, etc.
Wouldn't that put the Texans in HOT water with the NFL? Isn't there a rule that you MUST interview a minority candidate or face a hefty fine? So is that the basis for posters here thinking they are lying? To cover up? I'm just trying to follow the flow here of what is going on. |

The situation has now defined McNair as an owner who cares about the product on the field . Their are owners who will just take their cut of the TV revenue and not spend money for a good team .Bob expects a good team . He hired Reeves to locate the break in the system . As far as CC and Dom go ... its just like when the Texans were crying about the Colts running up the score on them a couple of years ago and CC said that " if you don't like it , don't get yourself in that position " .

Personally I think it's almost all rumors with little or nothing behind it. If there is much truth to the talk that McNair has offered the job to Jimmy Johnson and been turned down then I'd have to ask one question and it would be this:
"How in the world did a buffoon like Bob McNair end up with enough money to buy an NFL team?" I'd ask that because Mr McNair knows that he's got to interview at least a token (yes, I know how bad that sounds) minority candidate before making an offer even if he already knows exactly who he wants to hire. He's not going to make that mistake because if he was the kind of man who didn't know a step like this was necessary then everything I've heard about him being a shrewd and intelligent businessman has been a lie. Now, if he'd had a talk with Jimmy Johnson already about the "Consultant" position and been turned down but he had in the process inquired about whether or not JJ was interested in coaching and GM'ing again (Not to offer him the position, just asking if JJ would be interested in an interview wink, wink, nudge, nudge) and was told...whatever it doesn't matter at this point then absolutely both McNair and JJ would be lying about it right now. If he made an actual job offer they would have to lie about it right now. If McNair offered JJ a job and JJ turned him down then we're never going to know for certain. If he offered him a job and JJ accepted then we're still not going to know until after they trot out some candidates (including one or more minority candidates as required by the rules) and then we'll know. In other words all of this is nice to speculate about but we don't know a thing and (probably) neither do these people reporting all of these rumors. If one of them is legitimately on to something then there's been a big leak in either McNair's camp or JJ's camp.
