The guy is ranked 31 in this top 50 and this guy gives us the speed we desperatly need at the safety position. I for one am tired of watching our Safeties get over late on deep passes.

Hopefully we trade the 1st pick, get the OT we have needed for 4 years and take Huff with a pick and then a OG or LB

I like Huff and hope he will fall to one of our 2nd round picks or if we end up with three 2nd round picks from trading down we could package two of those together and move back into the 1st to get him. I've seen him rated very high on some similar lists, and some mocks I've seen him go in the late 1st round, others I've seen him drop to the 3rd, so a lot of it probably depends on his combine and workouts. I would love to get him, he is fast enough that he can play some CB on 1st and 2nd downs and leave Brown and Earl at S for their run support and tackling abilities, then move Huff back to S in passing situations for his speed and coverage skills and bring in other CBs (Faggins, Buchanon, and/or a rookie/FA pickup). Luckily for us S aren't usually picked real high unless they are supposed to be something very special like Ed Reed or Sean Taylor, but Huff hasn't generated that type of publicity yet and with people like Bush and Leinart absorbing much of the lime light, Huff might get to slip under the radar and fall to us in the 2nd round.

If Huff goes in the 1st it'll be to a team that likes a fast covering type of FS'. It'll depend on who our new coach is and his philosophy on his DB's. Huff has had some big hits but is projected to be more of a centerfield type of FS, not someone who will come up to the LOS and scare D coordinators. Teams that run a pure cover 2 or cover 3 will be frothing over him if they have a need. I don't think we should do any trading for him but definately trade down in the 2nd if a team wants to trade up to get him if he slips that far, which is very possible.

I'd take the big mamma jamma guard in Max Jean-Gilles, regardless of what we do in round 1. I don't think taking an LT is an absolute must, because there's no guarantee he'll be any better than Pitts.

I wouldn't count on a LT being better than Pitts, at least at first, but there are several that would be better than Wade and I'd want a rookie starting at RT early on in the year anyways, but we do need to bring in 2-3 top OL this draft.

That list in inaccurate on Huff. He will be a top 20 pick. THe only way we get him is to trade down like i said from #1. THen take the picks we get from the trades and move back up. I dont see any other way we can get him

Maybe, maybe not. Any other year he sure would be. However, you've got Jimmy Williams who's also a large CB and Darnell Bing who is a bit more traditional safety. If you think he's a top 20 pick, then who do you remove from the list?

If he falls to 33/34 you're talking about a serious rock at RG. I am hoping he slips that would be a steal. With Wade's ridiculous contract and Pitts holding steady I wouldn't be surprised if he was a target, especially if Bush becomes a Texan.

THis is very realistic here. This is a possiblity that Giles will fall. But Bush wont be a Texan and if he is he will on be a Texan for about 3 hours before he is dealt to another team

I know you don't want Reggie Bush, but I wouldn't dismiss everyone who says that there is a chance that he will be on our team. There is a very good chance that he will be on our team whether you like it or not.

I think a lot of people's minds are going to be changing after the Rose Bowl and his personal workouts.

By the way Bush and Jean Gilles would be excellent first two picks.

Your right we do need to protect Carr. Why can't we do that in the second round with Max Jean Gilles, Davin Joseph, Winston Justice, or Jonathan Scott? Why do we have to take Eric Winston with our first pick when this is one of the deepest drafts for offensive linemen in recent history? If you want another second round pick we can trade both of our 3rd round picks and get another quality player in the second. There aren't a lot of OL free agents available, but we could go after a guy like Tom Ashworth T on New England, Toniu Fonoti G on Minnesota, John Runyan T on Philadelphia, and a few others. Just adding one of those guys and what ever we draft in the second round would solidify the line.

This team can have all of the protection in the world, but if you don't have guys who can separate from their defenders and get in the endzone you still are going to lose. You can't win too many games only kicking field goals and occasionally scoring a touchdown. Right now that is what we have. We have 1 receiver who is doubled almost every time. We have a good running back who will nickel and time us down the field, but is shut down in the red zone and outside the redzone. We have a handful of receivers who wouldn't start on any other team and are rotated as the #2. We have lost 5 games by a touchdown or less. We are not as bad as our record. Coaching can fix a lot of the holes that we have.

We need at least two starting-quality OL in this draft. People keep pointing out that the majority of starting LT in the league were taken in the first round, and we have two great ones to choose from (Winston is better IMO). I would still start them at RT for maybe a year unless they really earn the LT spot. We need another interior OL as well, maybe two. Wade will need to be bumped to OG since he doesn't have anywhere near the quickness for RT, and Wiegert should stay for next year until his contract runs our, but we need to draft a good OG to battle Wade and Wiegert for playing time next year and then take over in 2007. We might want to look at a C as well in the late 2nd or early 3rd rounds, there are a couple good ones out there and I'm not completely sold on Hodgdon yet so bring in someone to compete with him. If we trade off the Bush pick, we could get Winston and probably get the #34 pick too which we could use to draft Joseph, Gilles, Justice, Thomas, or whoever else and get us two great OL to help build our offense for the future, not to mention saving $20 million in the process. Adding Bush does very little for our offense other than we can bring him in at RB for 35% of the plays and then out at WR for 40% of the plays to have the "home run threat" and hope he gets open somewhere for a TD. That is not worth giving up on getting two great OL and saving a lot of money in the process.

Your trade values are way under IMO. Moving from #1 to #4 is already worth more than a 2nd round pick and we'll have to see if Winston or D'Brick is worth taking that high. A 2nd isn't an offer you can't refuse in down grading from Bush to D'Brick or Winston.

If you're gonna do your own mocks then it's a good "best practice" to wait until the jrs have declared and at least the combine. That way you don't have any influences on your pix once you learn that for example D'Brick is 275 lbs or that Huff runs a 4.6 40 or that someone gets hurt in their bowl game like McGahee did. I say this because you may have a good fit for a team in the bottom of the 1st but the guys stock falls to mid 3rd rd. Then your mock looks like dookie. Then all in all he goes to the 4th rd. Seen it happen a million times. It's fun to predict the top 5 and such but anything after that is more of a crap shoot than the draft already is.

i really like this scenario, even though i don't really think we need reggie. i just have a hard time saying we should pass on someone like reggie bush, there are other ways to get lineman other than the number one pick. max would be a steal and would be a very good upgrade for our line. if he is gone and we decide to switch defenses with a new coaching staff i would like to take a look at ernie sims in the second if he comes out.

as for huff falling, i think it is a possibility, unless your name is taylor or williams you don't normally get drafted that high. very good safties always seem to fall.
