I know this may be a touchy topic to some, but I'm already nauseated by the Reeves threads, so I'm going back to why Carr gets sacked so much.
It seems to me that the game plan for opposing teams is to bring the blitz hard from the beginning to throw them off their heels, and get Carr rattled, and bring on the happy feet. Why the coaches don't foresee this, and start off with the 5 step drops right off the bat is beyond me, but that's been discussed before many times in different threads. It's incredible to me how bad the slide protections are with this line, and inability to handle the blitz packages. It's coaching . . I admit it. But Domanick Davis . . I've been watching him on pass plays when he doesn't move out for the dump off pass . . . and he can't block worth a lick, or . . doesn't really care about blocking . . or reads the blitz too late to get off an effective block. Whatever it is, DD deserves just as much blame as the line and Carr for the sacks. |

DD is a terrible blocker. It's definitely his worst attribute by far. Hopefully, a new coaching staff will straighten out a lot of these blocking problems (and maybe the draft and FA).

Ok...let's stay on-topic people. No turning every single thread into Bush threads. I just moved out 4 off-topic posts.

I wonder how much of DD's blocking inadequacies are due to the scheme calling for him to release on just about every play? If he's focusing on releasing early, he's not going to get a good block on people. I've seen this on some plays, but I haven't really analyzed. I think it's a coachable thing, but asking him to stay in and really block is going to keep him from getting out for a dump or screen pass, which is one of his strengths. So I wonder how much the coaches are just trying to play to his strengths. He seems to be the only player they really cater the offense towards.

im with ya on that eriadoc. I think it basicly boils down to DDs strengths. He cant be everywhere doing everything.. so you have him do what he does best.

That was one of the points I was bringing up in the 'Great Bush Debates", has anyone seen how Bush blocks? Now I like Davis, but he doesn't block worth and dang, so in essense this is why I couldn't understand why we paid him a ton of money to remain our featured back, and then we draft Morency to top it all off. Morency is just another DD. Can Morency block better than Davis? So if we get the number one pick and Bush can't block and we select him that would leave us with 3-5 rb's in our system that can't block. Blocking should be our number 1 priorITY.

The Titans game, Bosche and Shobel eat Milford's and Weary's lunch. They flew by them and Double D didn't have time to blink!
