Thumbs up Division Week in the South

Thought I would give you all a shout out and wish you well against the Titans. I thought I drop a line on the The Colts Hype...

I AM SICK OF ALL THE SPIN ATTEMPTING TO TURN MY TAKE INTO BEING SIMPLY BASED ON NOTHING MORE THAN A BIASED OPINION OVER ON THE COLTS MESSAGE BOARD. IT WAS ALL ABOUT STATS TILL I SHOWED UP, NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN STATS DON'T MATTER OVER THERE? GOOD GRIEF.

Simply ignoring the stats doesn't make the facts go away. Stats are facts they are not bias. Granted the Colts have done well against last 8 opponents scoring defensive units posessed a beleagured 28th ranking average, but they have struggled against the better units they have played against. This is not bias this is the facts.

With the next big three games, Colts will be facing the best opponents they have seen so far this season. The 8th best defensive scoring average is a far cry from 28th. They have yet to face a team as well balanced as they will against SD and the Seahawks. When you do your homework and see what all the hype is about, it is easy to see the impressive odds that are stacked against the Colts, and how they could very well indeed lose all three of their next big games.

Last time Colts faced teams posessing scoring defensive units who averaged inside the top ten, and even though there scoring offensive unit average ranked in @ dismal 20th ranking, Manning was still held to career low #'s.

# 5 Jags Scoring Defense P. Manning 13/28 122 0 TD 1 INT

# 8 Browns Scoring Defense P. Manning 19/23 228 0 TD 1 INT

HERE IN IS WHERE THE PROBLEM LIES...

Colts are not only going to be facing teams who's scoring defensive units average ranks 8th, but a 6th ranked scoring offensive unit average of the Jags, Seahawks and Chargers. 2 of the teams are the top three scoring offensive units in the league~!!

Looking @ the defense average the opponents that Seattle and San Diego have had to face, when you look at the 28th ranked scoring defensive unit average that the Colts had luxury of going up against, it is not hard to consider that the offenses of Seattle and San Deigo are probably better than the Colts.

Colts are in big trouble. The better units they will be facing have a 6th ranked offensive scoring average, considering the 20th ranked scoring offensive unit average of their previous better teams, Colts will need to score twice if not three times as many points as they did against teams they played who possess better defensive units.

13 points is good enough to get passed teams with the 20th ranked average scoring offenses but not the 6th ranked average especially considering the 28 points Colts defense has given up to a top 10 offense.

In order for the Colts to go undefeated they will have to either score 3 times as many points with their offense as they did against the better Scoring defensive units this season, or hold an even better scoring offensive unit averaged teams to at least to less than half the points they have allowed this year, or some combination of the two. This is a fact not an opinion.

This is one of the games that I'll be watching this weekend in between the Texans/Titans game. Should be an interesting matchup.

The stats though between the Browns and the Jags early in the year was before their offense skyrocketed once again. So this new matchup will be a good game to watch, especially considering your exceptional pass defense this year.

They're 12-0, and arguably the best team in football right now. It'll be interesting to see how they play against the next three teams, especially if they wrap up homefield advantage this early.

But this will be one of those rare times that I root for the Jaguars to win. I'm not a Colts hater, but honestly, the hype around an undefeated team just gets overboard and we hear less and less about all the other good team out there. Plus, I have no desire to see the media make Peyton Manning into a Saint, Living Legend, and Greatest.QB.Ever while he's still playing. We'd have to put up with that for another decade, and honestly, I don't worship any player.

Anyway, give'em hell Jags fan. Hope ya'll got it in you.

I think you will find it interesting to know not only how dismal a performance the Colts managed against the better offensive and defensive units in the league, but just how soft their schedule has actually been up to this point. I am about to show why we should not buy into the Hype of the so-called experts who project the Colts to have an undefeated season, given how they have now entered the toughest portion of their schedule.

Here is how well Payton performs when facing top 10 Scoring Defenses this season.

# 5 Jags Scoring Defense P. Manning 13/28 122 0 1

# 8 Browns Scoring Defense P. Manning 19/23 228 0 1

Zero passing TD's and 2 interceptions against these units will not cut it when facing a formidable opponents scoring defense units. Seattle is ranked 7th and San Diego is ranked 12th.

Lets go back and look at the past 8 weeks and see what the hype is all about. For the record the Colts average opponents scoring defensive standing happens to be 28th. What?

STL 32
HOU 31
HOU 31
SF 30
TEN 29
TEN 29
NE 24
CIN 15
PIT 11

The Jaguars have faced 5 top 10 scoring offenses

The Colts have faced only 1 top 10 scoring offense

Colts defense has allowed more points that 1 game, than the Jaguars have allowed in any of their 5 games against the top 10 Scoring Offensive teams. This is just another tribute to JDR motivational tactics that have gotten this team to play above and beyond itself when its back is against the wall IMO.

Colts are about to face the #2 and #3 scoring offenses in the form of Seattle and San Diego after they play us.
Though ST. Louis has the offensive scoring ranking of #10, unfortunately for the Colts, Seattle and San Diego do not possess the St. Louis's 31st defensive ranking.

Colts are about to face two well balanced teams after us who possess very good offensive and defensive units.

The Colts average against scoring defenses inside the top 10 is 18 points this season.

The Colts average against scoring offense inside the top 10 is 28 points this season. And that was the #10 team at that.

The Colts having to face the #2 and #3 offensive scoring units possessing the defensive #7 and 12 defensive scoring units does not bode well for their prospects of going undefeated, when you consider their current trend against those units.

When you do the math, Colts hypothetically speaking ought to be a 10-14 point under dog in those games.

If the Colts dismal trend against better units in this league continues, they could very well indeed be in danger of not only blowing their streak, but losing the division to the Jaguars if they lose Sunday. Jaguars are known for getting it up for big games...

Its tough to really compare the opening games with the Colts with the (week 1-3) Ravens, Jaguars, and Browns. In the first three weeks, the Colts were averaging 15.7 points per game. Since the Browns game in week 3, the Colts have regained to an origial form averaging 35.4 points per game in that 9 week/current stretch.

Their offense is in prime form again.

Bottomline Colts have not faced a top 10 scoring offense since the beginning of the season.

What the team has accomoplished in the last 8 games has been against teams with a 28th ranked Scoring Defense average. Like I said the hype stops here.

Still don't like the Jags. I like the Colts even though they are division rivals. With the Colts I hope they go undefeated and blow out the Jags!!!!

You know your team is bad when they have nothing better do than to cheer for a division rival.

How's 1-12 been?

No I like the Colts better than the Jags always have, always will.

I've liked the Colts anyway the traditon and the fans.

1-12 is just a bump in our road. It will get better and I still would cheer for the Colts to beat the Jags.

i can care less who you root for. But it is pathetic that you root for a division rival.

A bump in the road? Understatement of the year. Must be one of those NYC potholes in the road.

Whats pathetic about rooting for one division rival over another??

Yeah it is a pothole not a bump in the road. We will be back. Everyone has a down year. Just like the Jags did in 2003 with a 5-11 record.

I don't recall the Jags ever haveing a single win season. Considering the texans have yet to surpass 7 wins in a seaon, I would call every one a down year.

A losing season is a losing season, no matter how you slice it. Besides we may win a couple of more. This is why I don't like you, Jag fan, always have to throw the "haven't surpassed 7 wins".
We were progressing last year with a franchise best 7-9 record and we regressed this year, so yes this is our down year.

But it is very odd that a team that is supposed to be "on the rise" (like many of you tinhorn fans bragged about this offseason) suddenly goes 1-12 through the first 13 games. Don't you see something wrong there?

Oh no. Where's my tissue. HE DOESN'T LIKE ME!!!
