I'd be interested to find out from one of our experts here on what would be expected in compensation for moving down in the draft.
I know for example what happened two years ago with the Rivers/ Manning switch, and at the time, I thought the chargers got a ton of return from the Giants just going from that 1st to 3rd spot. Is there a chart anywhere or something? A formula? Say we get the 1st and trade down to the 5th, is that equal to an extra 2nd and 3rd? On a side note and just for kicks, has there ever been a freakish trade down scenario that got a team like 10 first day picks?

I know the market dictates the value on these guys, and as much as I'd hate to pass on Bush, I'm really curious to know what teams would give up for him or Leinart.

Not that the trading picks process is near as mechanical as a chart makes it seem, but here is the infamous value chart:

Ricky Williams via ditka-ludicrous
not an expert but eli got #4 overall, second round pick, next year's #1, and i think a fourth rounder. Vick got a similar value. san diego again. Maybe the Texans can parlee similar trades into a playoff team unfortunately a similar path would put us there in 09'. |

Unless it involves all pro lineman and another 1st rounder, you just don't do it.
