Instead of Buchanon we could have had the following............
Second round: Odell Thurman - Future middle linebacker of the Houston Texas. Could have been paired with 1st round draft pick Derrick Johnson. Add Peek and depth to a 4-3 and there are your linebackers of the future for the Texans. Or Matt Jones, Spears, Barron, James, Pollack, etc. But that changes the rest... Dan Cody Darrent Williams Jonathan Babineaux Third round: Chris Henry - Ideal #2 receiver with Johnson. Johnson, Henry, Mathis, Armstrong, and Bush would be a good NFL receiver core. Domonique Foxworth - There is your P-Buch. WHAT A BAD TRADE Casserly screws this team so much. Get him out of here! Hopefully the new GM will see that this is a young, rebuilding team that needs to maximize the potential of the draft.

I'm not defending Buchanon, but I don't like the "we could of had" threads. Hindsight is 20/20. You can say that almost about any team/any draft. should we of made the trade, probably not, but hindsight is 20/20

We could've been in the Super Bowl if we got all the players from New England to come play for us and hired their coaches too. Problem is A) that didn't happen and B) It doesn't guarantee that our results would be the same.

I don't understand why Buchannon is so bad. They guy has extreme talent, but does not apply it. I think he is a better nickle corner than Faggins. If we can pick up a solid #2 corner, we could keep him around for that/punt returns.

Yeah, I think we were Buchannon's last chance, as a starting corner anyway.

P.Buch had question marks on him when he got here, and then add him to a defensive scheme that NONE of our players seem to have any success with, and he looks marginal at best.
Even D.Rob looks like he's regressing, and we know he's got talent. Many of the players on our D had potential before they got here, but now they just look like stupid decisions. Players or scheme?

his performance on the field had to have been well documeted. Its bad enough to waste resources by way of burning cap by paying inflated bonus money to FAs like Todd Wade, but unconscionable to exchange 2 first day draft picks for the likes of PB. |

Guys buchanon had worn out his welcome in Oakland his value was not a 2nd and 3rd rounder. maybe if we got Woodson and his fat contract situation.

I won't go so far as to say our first pick was a waste....how do we know the kid doesn't even start.
I was definitely :brickwall not happy with the TJ pick though. Made no sense if we kept saying all along we won't draft DJ b/c he played in a 4-3 but we'll draft a DT who played in one. I must agree I was happy about the PBUC trade but of course I hadn't seen him play but once in the pros. I'd NOT heard about the fact that he won't hit even the dummies in practice or that he baths himself in lighter fluid so he can continuously be burnt. BUT HEY ISN'T THAT WHAT THE SCOUTS ARE FOR????

You're certainly right there. We have a lot of needs on Defense IMO.
The only person's whose job seems secure is DROB. Everyone else I"m kinda like the jury is still out. Babin...we moved UP for this kid. I never understood that pick. Peek though a monster is still inconsistent but maybe with time. I'd like to see us get another ILB and move Wong back outside if we are going to keep him though Wong I'm not even just innnn love with. I'm starting to get on the AJ HAWK bandwagon more and more here. He really impressed me in the UT-OSU game. Again though.... DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A SCOUT....but hey i'm starting to wonder ARE OUR SCOUTS EVEN SCOUTS? lol

I don't think it is fair yet on the TJ pick.. we still have to see what they do with the 3rd rounder for this years draft.. and it looks to be a high 3rd rounder the way NO is playing
