Coleman & Brown..................

What the heck is going on here. Once again we over pay Coleman for the next couple of years so he can get carried backwards. What is up with this guy. A safety must inflict pain or fear into the recievers heads, all he does is get out of position and then catch the ball carriers as they come through the hole. I've seen High School safeties do more hitting than Coleman. Please someone tell me that I am incorrect in my view!
Then there is Brown................Whatever happen to "We had a 2nd round grade on this kid" Glen Earl. It seemed to me( correct me if I am wrong) that Earl might have been the hard hitting safety that we needed. Let's see Earl played at Notre Dame and Brown played at LA- Monroe I think. How does Earl not even see the field. I think in many area's we have regressed rather than progressed. I just don't understand.

Brown played at LA-Lafayette. And I think he is doing really well.

They replaced him with "We had a 2nd round grade on him" CC Brown. This time instead of a knee injury it was a military thing that made him magically fall to the 6th round.

With Jason Simmons hurt maybe we will see Glen Earl next week - I don't understand why we haven't seen him.

CC has been a decent tackler for us, but he's made numerous mistakes in coverage, as a 6th round rookie out of a small time college probably should. He seems to be fairly athletic, with time he could be a solid SS for us.

Marcus Coleman on the other hand has been an absolute failure at FS. Sure, he's athletic enough to play the position, and he's a veteran in the secondary, but his play has been horrendous. He never drops the man without allowing himself to be dragged for several yards first. He also hasn't played like a veteran, he hasn't put himself in the position to be a playmaker in the secondary. He hasn't even put himself in the position to keep opposing players out of the endzone when they're obviously his only assignment. He's probably our best option at FS right now, as sad as that is, with Simmons out, but we need to remedy that position through free agency this upcoming offseason. Decent safeties seem to be a regular commodity in free agency. Anyone wish we'd held onto McRee?

on that TD pass to harrison, robinson expected a safety on top. if he knew cc brown was going to bite on the other receiver, he would have stayed with harrison. he is doing alright against the run game, its just against the pass where he needs lots of work. i would really like to see earl out there

I say we take a progressive action to actually tryibg to get some good people. We can find a good safety in Slay and Threat maybe in the fourth or late third. We can pick anybody up in FA to put some competition to the guys we have, I seen this kid on Geogia's squad and he looked pretty good, his name was Blue. Anyone know anything bout him? He could be a good SS for us.

Threat and Slay probably project better at FS. As far as Coleman and Brown we have one guy who really does not care anymore in Coleman and a guy out of position in Brown. If the coaches lined up Brown and Earl at FS and SS respectively then you would see better safety play other than they are both young and can be looked off with relative ease. threat is very raw and does not make many "big" plays. he is solid and can usually be counted on not to make mental mistakes, but slay is a much better physical prospect. he murders wrs across the middle. i see him as a poor mans roy williams. he is also a very underrated cover corner, who also very rarely makes mental mistakes.

I pick Slay, and he should even fall past threat.

Slay is a big hitter, but he tends to whiff and Threat is the faster and definately a drag-down tackler. Merriweather would be sweet, but do not know if he is coming out. I dont know after workouts though if Slay falls past Threat due to his physical measurements.

He is actually very good in run support, something colmen has shown he is not. He is a soild, drive through tackler who likes the big hits. Physically Slay measures close to Thomas Davis from last year i do believe. He has the body of a LB, with safty speed and cover skills. His hands are above average also.

Threat is a very solid if unspectacular player. His hands are good, but he does not bring the same excitment as Slay. He is a better overall tackler, but only because he does not take any risk.

Casserly always make some comment about how we get somebody, they had them graded higher than when they took them, as if they fell to them. Ragone, Earl, Davis, Morency.

A guy like Slay who can play both OLB or SS usually becomes a hot commodity around draft time. I am not saying that Threat is not a good tackler I am saying he is more of a drag-down or suretackler than Slay. I personally dont need the spectacular player, I just want the guy that goes out everyday and makes plays. Threat does that. He has great hands, speed of a corner, and he is very smart. True he does not take risk and that could lead to buchanon type coverage sometimes, but if we get him young he will learn to play alot like a poor mans ed reed.

I couldn't agree more with this statement and yes I wish we kept Mcree.

I think we should have kept McCree myself, but seriously....Brown is the exact same style player, but without the experience.
