Default Dunta Robinson?

Whats the deal with the blind loyalty shown to DRob and to no one else? Why are people saying how great this guy is playing this year? Is it because of how well he played last year? Lets face it, Drob is having a sophomore slump. Here is my proof:
1. 1 Pick this year - Granted, QBs arent throwing to him as much, but when they do, he never comes up with the turnover
2. He always covers the X receiver. Why is he never put on Chad, Harrison, Jimmy Smith? He always seems to be covering their #2 option
3. When QBs do throw at him, he plays average. He makes good tackles, but he doesnt have the same nose for the ball that he had last year. Where are all the defended passes?

The best thing that this kid has is his ability to give 150% effort and fire up the other people. His play has been whole hearted, but not as effective.

Best defensive player that we have, and he is darn good. There is no slump, QB's rarely throw at him, so he can't pick it off. I would rather have him and most corners in the league.

Oh no! Now its a "I hate Drob" post.

But seriously, if you were the other QB do you throw in the direction of Pbuc, Faggins, or Sanders, where you know you will complete the ball and wont get your reciever killed, or do you throw in Drob's direction where you know you run the risk of 1.) Getting the ball picked off or 2.) Getting your WR killed after he catches the ball?

Nobody throws to his side, and if they do, they do so rarely. I'm sure any coach who breaks down film sees that he always plays the same side, no matter what. So they send their number 1 to line up with the matador. If Pburnt was a better player, we could see more about DRob's progress.

Robinson is a member of a very, very poor defensive team. And since this is a team game, he has been part of the problem this year -- not the solution.

List of the Texans games:

1. Buffalo Bills
Lee Evans - 3 receptions, 68 yards
Eric Moulds - 4 receptions, 50 something yards
2. Pittsburg Steelers
Randle El - 3 receptions, 75 yards
Hines Ward - 6 receptions, 84 yards, 2 tds
3. Cincinatti
Houshmandzadeh - 8 receptions 105 yards
4. Tennessee
Drew Bennett - 5 receptions, 99 yards, 1 td (not sure if DRob was covering him)
5. Seattle
Don't know who he was covering here
6. Indianopolis
Wayne - 9 receptions, 89 yards
7. Cleveland
Don't know who he was covering, maybe A. Bryant? - 4 receptions 98 yards
8. Jacksonville
Ernest Wilford -4 receptions, 89 yards, 1 td

The only people I know Drob covered was Evans, Houshman, Wayne, and I think Wilford. None of these guys, excpet Wayne, should put up more than about 30-50 yards, and he let them all suprass that. Anyway, it just seems like he has faced some average opposition and given up close to 60-100 yards a game

drob is a good corner but he has not shut the oposition down. and qb's are throwing his way this year. you guys need to play closer attention before you just say they are not throwing his way. cause they are.

he had a very bad game against cinn. their number 2 reciever had his way with him.

he gave up a bomb against pitt. he gave up some catches in the seatle game.

actually i see people catching the ball in front of him most games. he hasnt gave up many long catches. but he is being picked on a little this year. if you dont see it my guess is you havent looked close enough.

the question is why and i believe most of it has to do with our lack of pressure. you cant cover the whole field for an extended amount of time unless you are a true shut down corner(and i dont know if there are really any of those). d. sanders in his prime maybe. so d-rob is probably just protecting from the deep ball. he will get better as our guys get more pressure on the qb.

D-Rob has tons of heart, and a vamped up motor, but he isn't the type of DB that QBs are going to fear. He is a very balanced DB, can play the run and the pass very well.
The only way QB's dont fear Drob is by not throwing the ball at him!!! The fact that there are games when the Qb's dont throw a pass toward him is proof of just how much they do fear him. Aganist the Titans, McNair threw at him about 3 times, each time he kocked it down and almost picked a couple off. Just because he dosnt have many INT's dosnt mean he is not a good db.
PS- Chris McAllister had 1 pick last year and he made the Pro Bowl!!!

That is incredably dumb. Does that mean AJ is part of the problem on offense? By your logic it does, so lets get rid of him!:brickwall
James Mungro was a part of the Indy offense last year, does that mean he is the best fullback in the NFL? According to your logic, than he is one of the top 3, because indy was a top 3 offense

When you are playing zone it dosnt matter who youy line up against, because if they run to the inside linebackers are covering them, not corners.

Good point. I was just about to mention that as much zone as the Texans play on defense, it takes away from thier 1 on 1 coverages.

Well if there is no pass rush and the QB can stand back there and have time to smoke a cigarette before he has to throw the ball, anyone is going to get burned sooner or later. It's not that hard to figure out... Just how long is a CB suppose to keep 1 man covered?

I agree with both of these statements.

D. Rob is easily one of the top three defensive talents on the team. It is a testament to the soft style of our current defensive scheme that this thread even exists with this question. If we had the talent in the rest of our coverage - namely our other CB and safety - that allowed a more aggressive type of coverage, his numbers would probably be much better.

I think the same could be said of P-buc, I believe he would do MUCH beter in man coverage instead of zone. Zone looks like it's confusing the hell out of him :I

More man would be great, especially on third and long plays!! Then we could blitz some guys, instead of rushing 2 or 3 guys and put pressure on the QB and force him to throw early and stop them before they get the 1st down. Right now we sit back and let the opposing qb pick us apart!

Does anyone have a clip of Drob putting a hit on whoever it was today. They don't show the Texans verymuch in TN, or KY so I don't get to see much. I don't even think about highlights on espn because they don't play the Texan highlights if any on sc.
