Default NFL's most underpaid players

LINK

I found number 2 interesting, maybe our front office should take note of this...

2. New England Patriots offensive line
2005: $7.0 million combined estimated cap value

Now we know why metaphors can't pay. The previously unknown (and most likely still unknown) players that make up this offensive line have to be the largest collection of bargains around. It's a good thing they can make some extra money from Madison Avenue, because the Patriots' five starting linemen will make less this year than Walter Jones alone made with Seattle last season. And that figure includes Matt Light, the Daddy Warbucks of the group, who entered this year with a $2.7 million cap figure.

Last year's unit ranked fifth in both of our offensive line metrics, adjusted line yards (run blocking) and adjusted sack rate (pass protection). This year's unit started with four of the same players, along with rookie Logan Mankins; when Light was injured, he was replaced by rookie Nick Kaczur ($367,000), who immediately became the weakest link. The Patriots have struggled to run the ball this year, but this line still ranks high in pass protection with the fourth-lowest adjusted sack rate in the league.

Default Most Underpaid Players

First, Fox Sports blasts the Texans by naming the o-line the most overpriced "player" in the NFL. They've now published their most underpaid player list http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5068128

To add insult to injury:

Indy and Jacksonville both have defensive players on this list, too. Kinda interesting to note that the two best teams in the AFC South have these "steals" and we have nothing but one win. Would this be a General Manager sort of thing for negotiating overpaid players, or does this just mean the Texans players have awesome agents? Just interested in the reason why we have an expensive line and no bargain players. IMO, it's a general manager issue.

The Patriots' front office assigns a certain value to each position. They don't pay beyond that value, except in cases of elite players (eg Tom Brady and Richard Seymour).

They're paying for it now with shoddy (at best) defense, but this management concept was never more evident than when they released Ty Law and Lawyer Milloy over the past three seasons. Damien Woody too. They just don't overpay, even if they lose quality guys.

It seems to work... I mean, they're not the team they used to be, but they're certainly still a playoff contender. I was surprised they used their first-round pick on a lineman (Mankins) this year, but by essentially naming him the starting RG right off the bat they slotted him into the one of the lower-paying positions on the O-line.
