Even with a turn around of 5 or 6 wins this is still a mediocore franchise going nowhere. Neither Casserly nor Capers have shown an history of sustained excellence in the position they currently are employed. I personally think they are what you see. Experienced, professional behaving, good men who have a below average record at performing in their current positions.

Default If we do get the #1

What would you guys think of trading down for some extra picks and still get a LT that we need so bad? There are a few team that are desperate for a QB ie Matt Leinart.

I like the thought of that. Although they will take time to devleope. Mix in another quality O-lineman through FA and we would be on the right track. Perhaps pursue the best atheletes available after that. Now if we can just get the NEW coaching staff onboard, we will be all set.

I think that anything we do with our high pick in next year's draft will be loved by 25% of the board and blasted by 75%*. There are lots of good options.

*Midway through next year, the numbers will change to 100% and 0% based on hindsight.

I would argue that drafting an OT in the first round would meet with little to no criticism. Even those who may think that Bush or whoever is a better player would understand the move.

Never give up on the team. I think we have about 4 more wins (minimum) ahead of us - Jags, Titans, 49ers, Cardinals.

As far as the coaching and gm situation, everyday it's becoming very likely that those 2 would be gone at the end of the season. I hate it for Capers, actually - yes, I'm part of the Fire Capers Club. But, like Jack Pardee was too nice and just seemed tp lose the team afterwards - at least Pardee was able to get the Oilers to the playoffs, and even turn a lousy beginning to the season into a playoff season.
