1. A mid-season coaching change from an old, conversative type to a younger, calculated risk taker/intelligent manager can turn a team of underachieving players into champions
2. Even teams with nobodies can become champions if the key players play well and the role players play their role 3. A terrible start can still end in glory 4. A great defense can shut down any offense 5. Playing with heart and effort can make all the difference 6. Veteran leadership, even if the player is declining/injured, is invaluable mentally, emotionally, etc. (Biggio, Bagwell, Clemens) PS: CONGRATULATIONS HOUSTON ASTROS----NL CHAMPIONS AND PENNANT WINNERS! |

was given the axe. Not to say the Texans are going to win a wildcard like the Astros did, but it was certainly a change for the better. |

Exactly.
I wish baseball were the same as football. I know a midseason coaching change in football is much more rare and everything, and it would take weeks for the effects to really be seen. Also, people would question the motivation of an interim coach, but it isnt impossible. I dont want an interim coach to come in this year and make big changes. All i want them to do is motivate, and that I think they can do. |

Football season is a sprint, baseball is a marathon. Every week in football is important because there are only 16 games. We would have to go 10-1 to get enough wins to make the playoffs. It's hard to compare the two sports like this...and in many other ways.

you dont make coaching changes mid-season unless you have someone on your staff that can pick up the slack. Bottomline during the season the Head Coaching talent pool is very slim due to most of them are with other teams as coordinators, College coaches, or head coaches of other teams. Let's never compare dull-*** baseball to football. It is like comparing an old man to guy in his prime.
