What about drafting DEFENSE?

I know all the talk is about drafting OFFENSE ....primarily offensive line. However it appears we are on our way to a very high pick. I know most of us think our defense is set....but its ranked last in the NFL for some reason.

What about drafting a AJ HAWK OR JIMMY WILLIAMS?

Not with the #1 pick but trading back to say 4 or 5. Then going O-Line 2-7.

if another poor defensive effort is exhibited this weekend on national tv it would not surprise me AT ALL if the Texans fire Vic Fangio. then I would promote Hoke or London to finish the season

You're probably right .....even though its the same ol HC. We won't be ditching the 3-4 in midseason I'm sure but I say ditch it now and plan for next year.

This is why I think we should trade our first round pick for two first round picks and a second round pick. The first round pick we get this year should be around the tenth pick. With this pick I think we get the best LT. Next I think we should trade back into the middle of the first round with one second and one third rounder and Pick AJ Hawk, Ahmad Brooks, J williams, Chad Greenway, Darnell Bing, Devin Hester.
You cant say that we shouldnt do that because we need all the picks we can get because we would still have the same amoun of picks.

I'm with you Bubba. We NEED them. I just dont think AJ Hawk makes it out of the top 10 honestly.

Not to mention....the texans dont like playmaking LB's remember. I.E. 2005 draft first round.

I was just putting the defensive players in order of how I want them. But I think its possible that AJ Hawk makes it out of the top ten because linebackers have been slipping in the last couple of years. For example Derrick Johnson. At first I wasnt that dissapointed that we didnt take DJ. But thats because I thought A Peek and Babin could get pressure on the QB and I also thought Wong and Greenwood would be good in coverage and against the run but apparently I was wrong.

What does a team do when it just about needs everything ? This doesn't get fixed in a year, maybe not two. The expansion draft players are getting old. The draft hasn't brought in a bevy of top notch starters. In fact I would give the franchise on the whole a D- grade in building through the draft, and god knows they had the picks. The cupboard is bare. My belief is you get dominant in the lines first, then move outward. But, if the talent isn't there to get that done, take guys at positions that you know will be an improvement over what you have. If that is defense, so be it.
