It will at best take two years to regain respect from the nfl.
First Mcnair fires every coach, president, assistants, GM. Second hire new head coach, GM let them pick all the assistants. Third switch to a 4-3 defense and change to a ballanced offense. Its going to be hard to get free agents to come to the Texans. So were still going to have to over pay players. :brickwall In free agency sign a starting C, RG, DE and depending on who is avaliable a Safety or CB. Also a few cheap players for depth Cut our overpaid players Corey Bradford, Gary Walker, Seth Payne, Victor Riley, Todd Wade, Zach Weigert. Try to trade pbuch and j babin for draft picks. Ill say we get one second rounder for them. Then comes the draft. Round 1 top three pick trade to broncos for both first rounders. Round 1a Marcus McNeil Round 1b Tackle (Eric Winston, Jon Scott, Max Jean-Giles, Winston Justice)in that order Trade one second and one third round pick to get back into the first round. Round 1c Best linbacker (AJ Hawk, Chad Greenway, Ahmad Brooks, Abdul Hodges.) In that order. Round 2 TE (leonard pope, Tim Day) Round 3 C (Greg Eslinger,Donovan Raiola) Round 4 CB Round 5 FS Round 6 Player with the best leadership Round 7 Fastest player Wong, Greenwood would be our OLB . With a Rookie starting at MLB. Robaire Smith and TJ would be DT. DE would be Peek and whoever we get in free agency. CB Drob and Faggins. Safetys CC Brown and M Coleman. Start as many young guys as you can. Get the young guys some experience and have a good pick in the 2007 draft. Sounds like its straight out of a playstation game but drastic times call for drastic measures. Plus I was bored and had nothing better to do.

Here are a few flaws I noticed in your plan: Riley and Bradford are both free agents after this season, so there will be no need to cut them after the season, we will simply not resign them; cutting Walker, Payne, Wiegert, and Wade would cost us a lot of cap space due to prorated bonus money immediately hitting our cap -- if we were to do this, we would likely have little money to sign any impact free agents; nobody will give us a 2nd rounder for an underperforming Buchanon and an injured Babin; as for the draft, it's likely to be a seller's market this year due to the amount of talent available in the 1st, so it will likely take another Babin-like move to trade back into the first -- I say keep the picks; your picks are solid, but Incognito was drafted by the Rams in the 2005 draft...All in all, decent scenario... |

Anyone remember what the situation was w/ the Oilers after Pardee got the axe and Fisher got the nod? It seems like they built on what they already had, and it worked well for them for a while. 10 yrs later, Fisher is still coaching the team.
