Boy did we get hosed on that deal.
Babin no longer a starter vs. Starks (solid game-would be nice to have him as depth for our D-line; which could us all the help we can get.) Oh yeah Starks was the 3rd round pick. Troupe was the second rounder. Didn't he have more catches today than all of our TE all season. Too sum it up. 1 non-starter for 2 starters (not to mention 4th round Jason Bell- backup guard and tackle {would be nice to have some O-line Help} and 5th round Bo Schobel- DE {more D-line help}

Capers let Billy Miller go. He and Pendry doesn't know what throwing to a tight end means!

The scrutiny on Babin is very unfair, because it's a position that Casserly put him in, and not anything he brought upon himself. By giving up so many picks for Babin, to a team that can actually manage those picks, Babin would have to be a perennial Pro-Bowler to even somewhat justify it. Babin's carrer is not over and it's still far too early to label hima bust. Regardless, the Titans got the better end of the deal, unless Babin develops into the Kevin Greene type of player that Capers envisioned. Babin could develop into a starter-quality LB for years to come and he'll be vioewed as a bust because of the move that Cassely made for him.

Babin cannot help where he was picked and what was given up to get him. Babin also cannot help the fact he is injured. Not like he did it on purpose.

2004 NFL Draft w/TEN:
Hou Gets: 27 Jason Babin (DE) Houston Texans (from Titans) Western Michigan TEN uses the draft picks traded and gets: 40 Ben Troupe (TE) Tennessee Titans (from Houston) Florida 71 Randy Starks (DT) Tennessee Titans (from Houston) Maryland 103 Bo Schobel (DE) Tennessee Titans (from Houston) TCU Looking back now, would we not have been better off staying put and picking the guys TEN picked up? TE, still a needed position, DT and DE depth. Could we not have a move at the end of the second round with TEN and gotten: 57 Antwan Odom (DE) Tennessee Titans Alabama A player who I find similiar to Peek, and also happens to wear #98? Played against better compition than Babin and also was converting from DE to OLB.
