Ok folks.. you are missing something here... I saw a team, let me say that again. I saw a TEAM come out to play football. That was something that was missing the last couple of weeks. A new hope.

My god people, they expect the oceans to open up and make the texans stand on the hill. In comparison, they had a HUGE outting then just two weeks ago. Before, i wasnt too excited on the rest of the year games, but from what I saw on Sunday. They are looking like they are getting together..

In addition, where in the **** are you folks coming from. We are the FIRST team that gave the Bengals a challege and kept the score close. Three other decent to good teams could not do that! The Vikings got whacked by this team, the Bears got ate, and the Browns got Spit out. We have a good outting and you all cant say to much good, Bah! (note: this is for all the ones who apparently have it out for many of the Texans)

Get excited folks, it only going to get better...

I think the problems are 1) We should never have played those first 2 games that ****** 2) This team seems to have a distinct ceiling right now, therefore not providing a whole lot of home.

Yea, we might drudge through and tack on some wins but it will be the lamest football we've ever seen. This team will never be great until either the players take it on themself or Capers has an Awakening and decides his football philosophy sucks.

So we are back to how we were playing in year 2 or so after seeing the worst football of our lives. How does that provide hope? Those first 6 games of last year should be where we're at. I really hope we see some aggression on both sides of the ball next weekend.

I said in my past post that the Texans had some kind of a funk, no desire. I even said they neede to go to the Houston Zoo and get the monkeys off their backs.

I too saw a team on the Bengals field, playing with desire!!! Satisfied, no. With more practice to work out some kinks, the wins will come if they continue with the DESIRE they had Sunday.

At least we are showing improvement... and thats the key. We need our players confident they CAN win.

I don't think many are complaining about the Texans play on Sunday...perhaps I'm misreading some folks. I hear a lot of complaining about the fact the Texans could not control their destiny towards the end, but the team last Sunday vs the team we saw the 1st 2 games is like night and day. They are still nowhere near where they should be, but they have certainly improved.

I saw 1st down passes...I saw a 3 step drop almost picked off and taken off the playbook the rest of the game...I saw better play calling.

What I did not see was a caused turnover by our defense...what I did not see was PASS PROTECTION...what I did not see was a confident qb (yes, more confident but nowhere near where he needs to be and won't be with this O-line)...what I have not seen is a coach or GM taking responsibility for being 0-3.

I saw improvements, but I'm still pretty confident we will yeild some good draft picks and a new leadership after the year is over.

I agree, Dime. I look at the glass half full. There is a lot of potential with this team, and I believe that they can fulfill that potential if they play with fire and focus.

Our D, while not spectacular, still looked pretty good. Of course, there are some areas that need work (namely the lack of defensive turnovers), but they did hold a hot Bengals team to just 16 points. And did you see Chad Johnson's new dance? Me, neither!

I read the other day from trusted NFL experts that a good O-line can take as long as 4-5 years to gel and become a cohesive unit. I'm not sure what calendar some fans look at, but we are barely into our fourth year. Sure, there are some glaring inconsistencies, but there seems to be a trend to generalize ALL sacks as the fault of the line. The fact of the matter is that our QB and position players are responsible for the vast majority of those sacks, by either holding on to the ball too long or running out of bounds, or blowing blitz reads.

Even though we are 0-3, I still have a positive outlook for this season. Call me delusional (which is rare), but I think the team can play out of the funk of the first two games.

Hey, we're favored in our game against the Titans, it's a home game, and by all accounts, it should be a blast on Sunday. I don't plan on talking on Monday, as I don't plan on having a voice left after blasting Bud's team with my venom. I plan on having a good time, in spite of those that only see a glass half empty.

We are not playing horseshoes here, either win or lose and we still lost 0-3 period, it does not change if we played better, we are the 5th highest paid franchise in the league that needs to produce period, we all pay good money for season tickets and want our money's worth, so does Bob Mcnair, other wise he would stick to raising horses not Texans. get real we are still 0-3 PERIOD !

I certainly understand your frustrations, but we are not 0-4 and 0-5 yet! Let's not put the horse in front of the cart.

Personally, I think we can be a 2-3 team within the next couple of weeks (instead of 0-5). There's the glass half full again!

Picks spent on talented o linemen.

A switch out of the 3-4 defense.

And a playcaller like Charlie Weis.

That's about all we need to be competitive again, IMO.

But until that happens, we're just pitching quarters hoping to get it close enough for the win each weekend. There's not really much to be hopeful about other than hoping our team can at least NOT get blown out.

The thing that's encouraging to me, since I have been a major Carr basher since mid-way through this pre-season: Carr has done a lot better than Daunte Culpepper. That guy is tanking BAD.

He made better decisions and seemed to actually keep his cool a LOT better this past game. And that's a start. If he can be consistent for a period of time, his confidence will come back. I think Pendry coming in has really forced Carr to focus on himself and not get caught up in what other players are or aren't doing. He was getting really pouty and sulky for awhile, which you can't blame him...but still, he's the leader and I'm backing off the Carr bashing because it appears to me that he is really focusing now.

I believe there IS a ceiling on this team, and a new set of coaches and a better philospohy that fits our talent better is the thing that can raise that ceiling to give us that next step toward playoff contention.

But with the mix of players, coaches, and philosophy (mostly the 3-4, IMO) I don't think we can realistically become a stronger competitor in the AFC right now. The NFC is where it's at right now--An 8-8 team in the West will probably win that division. In the AFC, it just looks like ALL the teams are playoff teams to me. Tough to carry the water in the AFC right now.

gpshafer our team is built well for the 3-4. I think the problem is that we run the system with a cover 2 mentality. We are not aggressive in the system at all. You are right on the o-line picks and I think we found a good playcaller in Pendry other than that he went away from the run and bootleg to early.

You're asking three guys to spank five bulky guys so the LBs can make the play on the ball carrier (be it a WR or a RB).

3 against five, in today's NFL where the players are getting bigger stronger faster, is a big gamble if you ask me. No wonder Payne is always hurt. I am amazed that Robaire is doing as well as he has.

But I just disagree. I see us in more four-man fronts than three-man fronts most of the game, and it just makes me wonder why we don't admit that we're a 4-3? Get one more beefy guy up there, and I think our LBs DO make the play. Babin gets crushed right now, Peek is getting a little more penetration than Babin, but he's still not reaching the QB before the ball is thrown. The 4-3 system asks two beefy D-Linemen to occupy 3 to 4 offensive linemen. I dont think it's too much to ask 3 beefy Defensive Linemen to occupy 4 to 5 offensive linemen...

And so are other teams.. You get real.. you expect the players to have a coming to meeting and expect it to all change with the replacement of 1 person. I was quite happy with the change in attitude they had and the work they did. Granted, I look for a superbowl too, but mainly I look for improvement to get us there. You all wont be happy till they have rings, then you will probably still be peaved it isnt 2 of them. Give them time under thier new person. Wake up and figure out that it takes time to get better. We are 0-1 under Pendry right now, and thats all you are seeing.. :brickwall

The problem is, they are getting worse with time. What were considered "Pro Bowl calibur" players are regressing. The same mistakes that are normally seen from expansion teams are being made this year... and worse.

I have no problem with people being die hard Texan fans, but at some point you have to wake up ask yourself what the heck has happened when a team that was supposed to "compete for the playoffs" is competing for the 1st draft pick.

Anyone that truly expected this team to be playoff caliber this season is/was a little delusional (especially given the fact that we reside in the AFC). I'm not slamming anyone with these aspirations, as delusion is the first requirement of an eternal optimist (and I respect that). But c'mon, this is our fourth year in existence, and a little patience is in order.

8-8, maybe even 9-7, were realistic expectations going into the season.
