Default Carr and Housecleaning?

Interesting suggestion at Profootballweekly.com

Article mentioning Carr

Hot seat getting hotter?

In reference to a replacement for Pennington next year...

Quote:
A better option is David Carr, who, depending on how the rest of this season goes in Houston, may be a casualty of a housecleaning. Heís due an $8 million roster bonus in March that the Texans may not be interested in paying. Also of interest is Jaguars backup David Garrard, who signed an extension with Jacksonville but could be dealt for the right price, and who seems to possess most of the skills Heimerdingerís looking for in a quarterback

I just can't see Carr in a Jets uniform (or any other) next season unless he wants out, which may be a strong possibility. Either way, the offseason is going to be exciting than the regular season.

Carr will be a hot commidity in the offseason if the Texans elect not to exercise his option. It's just a shame that we will get nothing in return.

If Carr is willing to renegotiate then I can see him staying here and would applaud both sides for making this happen.

Carr doesnt seem like the kind of guy who would want out. I fully expect him to be here for a long time.

Default Housecleaning

Hello, right now the team has so much pressure that Charly Casserly is capable of making another huge mistake.

If I were David Carr I would accept the trade inmediately; the Jets have a team that can contend and a great coach.

But being a Texans fan I would be really dissapointed if the housecleaning gets to our better players; What would be next, Andre, Dunta?. If their thinking is that Dave Ragone is going to support the pressure, forget about it: no QB is going to be successful in this franchise as long as this offensive line is in place.

Drayton, if you read these posts: You'll be better firing Capers then allowing the new coach to decide who should stay and who should go. You should even fire Casserly, or at least withdraw from him all personnel decisions - too many draft picks wasted and no sense of urgency with the free agent market (good TEs, WRs, OGs and OTs were in the market while all of the Texans attention was centered in average LBs and a failed CB) are a huge part on today's situation.

This is just my sand grain...

the best thing for mr .mcnair to do would be to see how the rest of the season plays out. Depending on the final he should then lock down Hoke for DC and then bring in a better personnell person. I am not saying fire Casserly, but take away some of his power and give that to a personel guy. Someone like Savage was when he was with the RAvens.

I hope that Carr decides to stay and McNair and company - hopefully new company - are in agreement of Carr staying. It would suck to see Carr get picked up by another tem only to go there and live up to the potential and surpass what we've been hoping for in Houston - it can and has happened.

Other than that, there are 13 games left. Some upsets could be on the horizon in our favor. Some surprises could be on the horizon in our favor. I'm not gonna dwell on the negative, that's almost too easy. I'm an optimist. GO TEXANS!!!!!

Carr is so much the personification of this young franchise, nobody else is even close. I have reservations about his play over the years here in Houston, but don't doubt his raw ability. And my sentiments are so strong about Carr because he always was from Day 1 the face of the team, if he
were to somehow go elsewhere I would instantaneously become a fan of his new team.

I've always been a Carr backer and I still am. He's not playing up his potential but he showed last week that he is a starting caliber QB in the NFL. I don't know why some people here are so ready to show him the door. Carr does make mistakes but once again it's not all his fault. Without a running game and o-line protection there is very little Carr can do. And it's not like we haven't seen what DC is capable of. He's had games in the past that shows he can be a star player at this level. Unfortunately the management hasn't helped him out very much this year. When you've got a veteran right tackle playing left tackle you know there's something wrong. And if we do release Carr I'm assuming we will draft a QB high once again. And if we do draft another QB we'll be stuck in that same cycle of giving him 2 or 3 years to mature and then wait and see what he's capable of and etc. I say stick with Carr this year, see how he responds and I believe he will have a good season for us. I don't know how many games we will win but I will gurantee you that if we do have a loosing season it's not because of David Carr but because of a weak defense and a weak o-line.

I think this has quickly become a make or break year for David.

When somebody has to fork over 8 million to you you better have earned it.

If he doesn't play well the rest of the year I wouldn't be all that surprised if they go in another direction QB wise.

Does anyone have Carrs stats from this past week. If I am not mistaken, his incompletions were low and most of them were due to him throwing the ball away. I thought he did a much better job of not forcing the throws.

I'm still amazed at the knuckleheads who keep bringing up this get rid of the "Broken" Carr - bangign the drum that he sux and is not a starting NFL - QB.

Wake up folks - like I said in another thread -

Unless you were not watching last weeks game DC scored just as many points as the Cinci QB Carson Palmer

Thats 7 for you who didnt see it.

7 points with 7 sacks

opposed to Palmers 7 points with 2 sacks

Their QB ratings were almost exactly the same.

Wow I guess Cincy better get a new QB too huh because their 4-0

Honestly its pretty fricckin hard to throw the ball, execute a play or even think when you have 2 seconds before your pancaked by a 400 ound guy who wants to kick yoru butt. Pressure constantly in your face makes you have to always make snap decisions - How many QB's in this league have had to face the pressure and amount of sacks DC has in his first 4 years and still managed to produce consistently great every year???? Very very very few I can tell you. Nobody has as many sacks as his first year or even this year and to try and pin that on him is just ignorance. Sure he makes a few mistakes - Every QB is this league does - the best just try to limit theri amount of mistakes. But he's not making the Majority of the mistakes to cause those sacks - his teamates are. Hes on pace to break his first year sack record and I will say some is his fault - but a majority of the time it's not his fault at all - just lack of talent on a bad O-line. It's the coaching staff and FO's fault for not doing their jobs to protect him and for basically leaving him out to dry which is why I said in the off-season I would be surprised if DC doesnt start taking the approach of trying to protect hiimself this season and when it comes contract time doesnt want to re-sign with the team unless they guarantee to change things.

IMO - Give David an O-line and a playbook that says PASS PASS PASS then run and you will see a very different David Carr.

as i mentioned in another thread if David gets injured and the team is forced to play Banks and Ragone for the rest of the season. Then everyone including Banks and Ragone will see the beating hes taking first hand as everyone in the league will be pinning there ears back and blitzing

And why wouldnt they - weve certainly shown we cant protect anyone. You think their going to hold back on the Back-up QB?

Its pretty funny now looking back in the off-season when I said DC is going to have a very rough year because the management hung him out to dry on the O-line even after the Owner of the team told them to fix things -

Now 0-3 and nobody is saying any different

The staff obviously didnt get the same message everyone else heard from Mr Mcnair and I forsee a majority of the staff following Palmer pretty quick. After 5 years of this mismanagment [4 years with players and 1 year before the team played] how many people think will be left?

I keep bringing this up - FYI - This is year 5 folks of this teams 5 year plan - Look up Dom Capers and CC's contracts and when they were brought on staff if you dont beleive me.

Building an Offense starts with a QB and then its all about protection - and protecting your investments - This staff has shown they have no plan at all when it comes to doing that and imo doing their jobs they have been paid to do.

IF I were Mr Mcnair I would put everyone from top to bottom on notice except 2 people - Hoke and the Special Teams coach Marciano - nobody else has shown to do anything else but mismanage the players and jobs they have been given years to produce with. I would go out and get some "Proven" winning coaching talent if and wherever it was available and bring em in here to show the players they decide to keep how to win as they certainly got loosing down pat at this point.
