until this point in the brief building history of the texans, charley casserly has had a “best player available only” mentality. initially that might have been good enough ,but its no longer going to help this team. we do have core players. even if our schemes aren’t utilizing these players, the talent is there. this team is much better then how they’ve performed thus far this season.
since our inception we knew carr needed offensive line help. players like weigert and wade were brought in...they’ve both been marginal despite having a big impact on our cap. ryan young was here for 1 injury riddled season....and off course you guys know the boselli fiasco. when you have holes everywhere “bpa” works....but now its time to start filling in the gaps. in the last 3 drafts casserly has not invested anything higher then a 3rd round pick on our offensive line. this trend has to stop this off season. charley’s bpa approach has fixed a little bit of everything all at once without actually making anyone position good. it’s time to address specific positions. i’m starting to fault a gm more for not even trying to fix a lacking area because he wants that “perfect player” then drafting a guy who addresses a need and isn’t a superstar. day 2 of the draft is the place for a “best player available” mentality from here on out. i’m also of the opinion that part of our building problems stem from vacant draft picks. what does that mean? the buchananon-babin-ragone acquisitions set us back 6 picks. in the infant stages of our franchise that hurts not only our starting lineup but our depth as well. i think it’s time to get some of those picks back by trading back if possible and rationale. so the question now is: what do you think we need? in the 2006 draft our 1st day picks are: 1. 2. 3. 3. in an average draft at least one of these picks should start and another should have significant contributions. i also foresee this being our busiest free agency period especially considering the current drama of our team. in order for this coaching staff to survive if their still employed when the season ends they will need an infusion of better veteran talent. i see us going after 2 starting caliber players in free agency. so there you have it. what’s your blueprint for making the team a success? you are allotted 3 starters...what positions need the most help? free agency: 1. 2. 2006 draft: 1. 2. 3. 3.

2006 draft
If we pick #1 or #2 in the draft.. I would probably trade down and gain an extra pick 1) LT 2) Center 3) #2 WR 3) DL or secondary FA 1)OL 2) DL

LT and playmaking all around dont have to take him out on rushing downs TE. After those are addressed, BPA. And please Casserly, whatever you do, dont trade away our 2nd and 3rd round picks, we need the depth!

The only RB I would consider drafting would be Reggie Bush. We need OL help, and we need a lot of it. I want to see us draft Ferguson or any other top flight LT. I also would like to see us go after the TE Marcedes Lewis from UCLA. The guy is a coverage problem waiting to happen. Too big for corners to cover, too fast for LBs to cover.
