With Chad Pennington going down for the season, this puts Herm Edwards on the hot seat in NY. If the Texans cant pull things together this season, is Herm Edwards someone we'd think about bringing in the right the ship?? I love his defensive mind set but he's lacking in offense in NY just like we are here in Houston.
On another note, with Pennington going down, does this give us an option to send Carr to NY for a #1 in next years draft?? What do yall think???

"Carr is the worst player in the NFL.....maybe next year we can trade him for the #1 overall pick." Sometimes these people make me laugh. Thank god most of them don't know *** about football or the NFL. |

I dont hate Carr at all. I just read where the Jets are looking at Volek and Ramsey and wanted to see what Texans fans thought. I'm all for keeping Carr and seeing how he develops over the next 2 seasons or so. If we end up with a top 3 pick I'd like to see us trade down and get an extra first rounder. Select a stud LT and a viable #2 WR.
If Capers stinks it up over the next few weeks I'm all for taking a solid look at Herm Edwards though....

Someone called in and asked the same thing to John and Lance. They said sure 1) someone would be interested in DC, 2) maybe second rounders, but 3) David's not going anywhere.

carr can easily get a mid-first round pick. but dave ragone cannot play at the NFL level, so carr won't be traded.

So much for that 1st round pick for Carr: Jets turn to Testaverde

If you guys are looking for a trade for a QB hope that Ragone gets some spot duty in some blowouts we put up and we can engineer a trade for him. He wont draw much attention but possibly a 3rd at the most more likely a 4th or 5th.

Heres an idea we trade Carr for any first round pick. He turns that pick into the second pick overall in the draft. With the Texans pick being first. Then we can draft D Brick and Eric Winston. We can draft a QB in 2007.

I doubt the Jets get rid of Coach Edwards, regardless of how the team ends up this year.
He'd be a great coach to have, without a doubt. But I don't think McNair fires Capers until after season 5, even if we end up with a bad record and fans starting the mutiny. |

you do know that D Brick is hurt right now dont you. Anyway we dont trade Carr because he is a good QB. We do find him some blocking for next season and we ride out a great ride this season that should have us at about 6-10. Hopefully I am wrong on that and we win the next three quarters of the season.

If we end this season with six or less wins I say trad DD for draft picks and start J Wells. I think he can be just as good if not better than DD.

To put it bluntly weve had 4 years of mediocrity not maturity which is what this staff was hired to do. It's interesting to note in the fox interview they named McNair as having made some say so in the ousting of Palmer as well. It seems that perhaps he's recognizing the need to take matters more in hand to right the ship at this point. I cant blame him as for a 5 year investment the team looks good perhaps on paper at the moment but to the public it looks plain awful and uninspired. I'm sure Mr. McNair can see that for himself and will take the necessary steps to put the winners back in place and get the team rolling the right direction again - One way or the other [New staff]. IMO -As I said before the season started and later re-iterated after watching them up close for 3 weeks during TC and pre-season - the writing is on the wall for almost all the staff if they dont turn in a winning record this year. They just plain are not coaching them very well, the players look under-prepared, lazy and lax

Carr is definately worth a first rounder, but I'd be surprised if anybody would give us more than a 2nd or 3rd rounder. That said, why trade the best player we have to offer?
Now to the person that said trade DD - what the hell are we going to get for Davis? I love the guy, I think he adds a lot to the team, but I don't think he has a high market value. And by the way, we wouldn't start Wells, we'd go with Morency. Now, since all the crazy talk is coming out - let me throw in my hairbrained scheme. Let's go after Ricky Williams right now. His market value has to be pretty low at this point, Ronnie's been doing good in Miami so they should be more than willing to let Ricky go. I think we could possibly get him for a third round pick. He may or may not be in shape right now - but he's in his prime and last time he played football he led the NFL in rushing. He's also a lower his head and run people over type player, something this team doesn't have. Having a premier running back would take some of the pressure off Carr and give defenses something to look at. |
