David Carr throws more touchdowns and fewer interceptions than Peyton Manning and people are saying he is a bust! Yes, I know that stat is misleading but that is not the point. HE did what QBs are supposed to do, manage the game, move the chains, so on. It is not his fault that Dom Capers or Palmer, I dont know which one, decided that it was better to try and repetadly pound the ball at the best front 7 in the NFL. Oh, by the way, do we ever run to the right? Ever? Honsestly, we find a reciver that might acctually take some pressure of AJ by exploiting the middle of the field and single coverage, and we bench him in favor of a quy whose' inly good quality is he can run fast. woot. Meanwhile, the number of times that Carr, as some of the people pointed out had a pocket to sit in and there was no reciver open is astonishing! Everytime they showed a replay of what was going on downfield, AJ was at least douple covered and most everyine else could not beat single coverage. It's cleat the only way we can overcome out deficiencies (o-line) is to spread the defense out. Instead, after having some degree of succes with 3 and 4 WR sets, Dom decieds to go with a 3 TE set and with power-runner Domanick Davis!
We ran one draw the whole day and it went for a big gain, do we try it again? NOpe, halfback dive! Also, almost everytime we went to playaction, we had someone open, however, we baerly even used this. Meanwhile, Polamalu blitzed ofeten and the other safety was ussaly on AJ, this means the other guys all have single coverage. We threw one deep-ball the whole game! The only thing that I thought Carr did horribly was the delay of game, but there are a number of ways to expalin those. The stepping out of bounds a yard back of the LOS is really not that significant, I mean, we lost 3 yds on that the whole day, who cares if it counts as a sack? It was blanatranly obvious that the line is the reason for most of our struggles, I am hopping that this will improve as we face defences that aren't as good as Pitt and Buffalo, but when Carr had time, he delivered the ball. |

Joey Porter on DC courtesy of the Houston Chronicle:
"Sometimes he sacked himself," Porter said. "He was running everywhere, (taking) delay of games, throwing the ball in the dirt, taking sacks, running into guys — he was scrambling for no reason at times." |

a few words from ESPN on the Texans and "Blitz'burgh game-
Houston's problem was an offense so lousy that fans were booing before quarterback David Carr lost a fumble -- and that was on his third snap. He finished 16-of-26 for 167 yards and a touchdown, but he gave back 59 yards on his most sacks since the team's expansion season in 2002. He went down five times in the first half, including an 11-yarder that took Houston out of field-goal range and on consecutive plays shortly before halftime. The game even ended with a sack. While Carr said his linemen "fought their tails off," Pittsburgh linebacker Joey Porter heard Carr saying otherwise. "He was arguing with his offensive line," Porter said. "Whenever you get a quarterback arguing with his team that's a good sign." Houston's only scoring drive came after coach Dom Capers challenged his team to "put the first half behind us and come out and fight." They went 78 yards in 14 plays, with Domanick Davis scoring on a 3-yard catch. After that, the Texans went for it on fourth-and-4 from the Pittsburgh 28 only to get called for delay of game. They tried anyway and Carr overthrew Corey Bradford in the end zone. "It's frustrating," Carr said. "We just, for some reason, can't get it done."

I guess I'll bring up - What about our boy DC scrambling right into defenders? Play that stands out the most, DD blocks blitzing defender out and up, thus creating a pocket for any semi-bright QB to step up into. What DC do? Runs out and up right in the blitzer. And those 3 yards or so we lost due to DC stepping out....WTF!? Your at the LOS, what now you cant throw the dang ball 3 balls forward? And heres a hint, there's a BIG clock on both ends of the field, its called the PLAY CLOCK. Ahhh. I think I'm more upset today then I was yesterday.

When is everyone going to notice that they cant blame the line for everyting. I was reading the chron and last week the line was only blamed for 1 sack out of how many and this week i can say that Carr caused most of the sacks this week. I will admit the line did allow some sacks...
Next we are going to hear that its the olines fault that carr carries the ball out loosely when he runs and lost another ball ......... Why cant anyone see that Carr for some reason is self-destructing and it not the olines fault he is making bad decisions... your golden boy isnt so golden,,, Let me thing how many false starts compared to carrs delay of games hummm you tell me.... The WR's didnt really shine that well either dropped passes in their hands..... All around terrible team effort |

i put 1/2 the blame (offensively) on carr & the other 1/2 on coaching. porter is exactly right, carr's running himself into more sacks than the line is giving up. unless the other team has a blitz that's as weak as ours, the pocket is in a constant movement. the good qb's feel that (with their eyes down the field), step up, and let the pocket move around them. for those who watched until the end, yall got to see leftwich's last drive ... i wish carr would've. he had less time to throw than carr did, but still managed to complete passes despite getting pounded. the difference is that he stayed in the pocket and watched the coverage, not the rush. carr has it backwards, he's watching the rush until he has scrambled to the sideline.
i know it's bad, but i spent most of the game just laughing at our team. the only player i singled out and got frustrated with was carr. i couldnt count the number of times i yelled "throw the ball" at the tv. he got sacked 8 times yesterday, i hope he throws 8 interceptions next game because right now i'd trade a bad pass for a bad "running scared" in a heartbeat.
