They are talking a ton of smack on the Bucs boards. They've already booked super bowl tickets. My question is, did you feel their defense is that good or did Houston make some big mistakes? I didn't see the game, but I can't believe how cocky these guys are. Also, what did you think of JP Losman at QB?

Just ask them how well their starters did last season when they had to win and the Steelers beat them with bench players starting....

IMO the bills have a solid defense, but Houston made them look way better than they actually are....

We left a lot in Houston when we played them. Losman made some mistakes that we dd not capitalize on. I would be intersted how McGahee bounces back as he took some hits, as he walked off gingerly a couple of times. I like your chances if the Cadillac can break another off and Greise limits his TO's.
We are better than we showed and Bills fans should not be booking SB tix just yet. Good luck

I expect TB to play well, they both have similar defenses but the Bucs will have a better offense.

I dont see any fans booking SB tickets. The actual defense (you know the guys that play) were very unsatisfied with their performance.
Ask David Carr how the defense was though, I believe he said this is the most helpless he has felt at QB since the 3rd grade. Dont hope for JP to throw the ball because he was suffient in his start and Houston has very capable CB's in Dunta and Philip. I think Tampa will be a much greater test for us seeing as it is on the road against a much more formidable defense. Like you said though Caddy had 26 carries for 77 yards before he broke that last one with a minute left in the game. Griese is far from a great QB, bills fan know this from his stint in Miami. Teams seem very similar should be a good game! |

We choked, but what did you do at home against the Patsies? What do you guys always do in the playoffs at home? Please. Wanna smack talk, it is easy to do. Your proud history is old news, and frankly I don't care about it. Wanna talk football on an intelligent level? Let's do it. Blew Dreadslow had one of his typical *******ty games. Whenever Drew has anything on the line he chokes bigtime, and that is why he has never, nor will he ever win the show... unless he has someone driving the boat for him. For the Bills fans talking smack? It is rare. If we get inundated with BS at BB.com we will talk smack, but as the Texans fans can tell you, we generally don't start junk, we come to talk football. Want some info on the team? I'll be as unbiased as possible. Offensively we are questionable, really. We have what amounts to a rookie QB who can run with the ball, and that is our glaring weakness. What you see alot with young QBs is a guy too quick to jump the gun, add in his ability to run and you see a guy quick to flush from the pocket. JP showed alot more composure than I expected really, in Sundays game. Houston has a very good secondary, enough so that I was nervous about JP getting bit, but we do have weapons on offence. JP is surrounded by big talent, young and old. That is why I think he fared well in game 1. Our wide outs performed remarkably last year, considering the man throwing the ball. A rookie reciever who is a tremendous downfield threat who averaged over 17 YPC and had 9 TDs last year (Evans), and a proven veteran in Moulds, who will take all the double teams and still come down with a thousand yards per season. Please keep in mind, these guys were playing against a very talented Texans secondary, but they broke enough off to show Losman what he needed to see. McGahee, I don't think I need to say much about him. You So Fla guys should have seen enough of him durring his college years. Our TEs are decent, not spectacular, but they can block. Our O-line will see improvement with Dreadslow out of our backfield. Overall, Losman was a winner because of the guys around him in game 1. They played very well, and it made him look darn good in his NFL debut. Defensively, we are strong. We lost Big Ted, but otherwise our #2 overall defense of last year has returned. Not only were we #2 in yards given up, but we were #1 in turnovers. To further brag on them, remember they allowed Cleveland only 27 yards last year. Clements is arguably one of the best corners in the league right now, and has had another year to mature. Takeo, Milloy, etc don't need much introduction either. 5 sacks and 5 turnovers on a professional level is talent, I don't care who you are playing. ST don't deserve an entire paragraph to explain, but we were #1 overall in ST last year, with most of the squad returning. Overall, this game will hinge on defense. TB will not have a scoring frenzy on us, but neither will we. I fear the mix-ups TB will show on D confusing JP. If it does and he makes a stupid mistake, that will cost us the game. But if you guys make a mistake against our D, we will make you pay. ST are very important for us too, in that we need JP to have a short field, and the ST gave us enough of what we needed. I see it the same as I did against the Texans... maybe a fieldgoal will decide this game... one way or the other. I am still not overly confident in JP, but he impressed me more than I would have thought last week. Good luck, I hope for an injury free game (and a Bills win) next weekend in a close defensive game.

downfall of the Bills if they don't solve it is Red Zone TD's .. hard to win with field goals against quality teams

Bills have a fast defense full of play makers.
Their Linebackers are amazing. It was a good win beath the Vikings, they are a good team, but they are not even close to being a playoff team in the AFC. Turnovers are the Key. The Bills Defense is really good at creating them. Their offense is very suspect. |

yes it is, but it is hard for teams to beat field goals if they can't get near the endzone .Seriously, that is one of those maturity things we need to work on with Losman. I am tickled he didn't take any chances in the red zone and cough up the ball. But I am afraid he was being a bit overly protective of the ball. Hopefully he will gain a bit more confidence in himself, if not we may be in for a long season.

I couldn't take it any more today. I used a Cowher quote:
http://bbs.buccaneers.com/showthread...14#post1728114 No offense, Sandt, you sound like a good guy! It's going to be a battle on Sunday in my opinion. |

I moved this thread to "The National Football League" forum because honestly this doesn't have much to do with the Texans past the initial question. With Bills fans still very present here and Steeler fans coming in for the upcoming game this thread is going to turn completely away from Texans football (which is cool, it just needs to happen over here).

My honest assessment is that I'm actually a little scared of the Bills this year. If Losman pulls a Roethlisberger, or even partially so, they're going to be a really hard team to beat. Here's why:
1. Their linebackers are sick, and I personally think Spikes is the best at his position right now. I can't think of whose 'backers I'd take over Buffalo's now that Tedy Bruschi and Ted Johnson aren't in New England. 2. They came on like gangbusters at the end of last year, winning six straight, and despite their loss to Pittsburgh (who beat just about everyone they played last year, of course), they nearly came back from an 0-4 start to make the playoffs. That tends to carry over from one season to the next (see 2002 Patriots). 3. The rest of their D - the line and the secondary - aren't spectacular, but they're solid. They have a nice mix of vets and kids, and Nate Clements is (in my opinion) going to end up developing into one of the league's top CBs. This is a team that had 39 take-aways last year, tops in the league. 4. Offensively, all Losman has to do is NOT screw anything up. He's got a nice group of receivers and a solid runner in McGahee, and if he only ends up throwing 15-25 passes a game the Bills will win a lot of them. Defense wins games in the long run, and Buffalo's is a good one. Others have stated otherwise, but I think it'd be a huge mistake to underestimate them.
