Moderators: Please don't move this post. The player is not a Texan (yet) but he once was, and this post is about our KR position.
BRING BACK MOSES. Maybe he hasn't brought one to the house, but he sure as heck was one of the top returners in the AFC last year. Sure hands. Good judgment. Former Texan. BRING BACK MOSES to lead our people through the Red Sea in Buffalo. |

Why would you want to do that? Mathis is faster and could be actually used as a legitimate WR as opposed to JJ's special teams specialist. Dont get me wrong I liked JJ but it is time to move on.

Little off topic, have they tried Lord at returning kicks, I remember he had explosive speed and agility running the option at Nebraska, that is what an athlete like he is here for to experiment with.
any other ideas? |

Moses isn't coming back and we will be fine in our return game. I think part of why we released Swinton was due to Morency's explosiveness, quickness and cutting ability. I think we will have good depth without JJ.

i'd love to have moses back but i really dont see it happening. what's funny though is the responses on who's going to return next are filled with "i think" and "could be". moses did. he didnt fumble, he gave us great field position, and heck he was just fun to watch. as i said last year & the year before, i'd rather have consistancy and field position rather than the possibility of one extra td a season (which, if not for penalties moses would have anyways).

People use "I think" because we aren't privy to the decision making process. It's all speculation from the fans.

Well you want to know what "I think"? I think that JJ was fun to watch but "I think" that he was at least as responsible for the penalties on returns as the guys trying to block for him. I never thought "The longer he stays up without being tackled the better chance he has of taking this one to the house". I always thought "The longer he stays on his feet the better chance we have of getting all this work called back on a penalty". Nobody ever knew where Moses was going, least of all the people blocking for him.
He was an entertaining player but in 2003-2004 we had the luxury of keeping him around and hoping he would break one. He was reliable if nothing else. Now we need a little more "conventional" return game because we're trying to win, not just entertain.

Hey, I know it's kind of a lame idea....
But with a few days slowwwwwwwwwwwly passing by before we see the first Texans game, I figured it made for an interesting topic. Morency is one of our RBs (probably the #2 guy) so why would we stick him out there against crazy kamikaze special teams guys who dive head first going as fast as they can? Sounds like an injury waiting to happen. Then we'd be up a creek with our #2 RB out of the picture. I'm all for players having dual roles in order to not take up an dextra roster spot...but we have nobody other than Buchanon who really has the experience of returning kicks. Oh, I forgot...we HAD a couple of those guys (Moses and Swinton) but they weren't the "right fit." (Rolling my eyes). Bring back MOSES. |

I'm not in the mindset of not playing a starter on special teams just to avoid injury. If he's the best in that possition then play him. Look at Rodney Harrison on the Pats. He's one of their top defenders and one of their top special teams players. If Morency is the best we have to return kicks... let him return kicks.

I agree with Hardknock. You shouldn't put a starter on returning kicks. Man, that's a great way to lose someone to an injury quick. Some of those guys go like freight trains down the field.

Derrick Mason and Steve Smith have returned kicks for years. They are both key starters to their teams.
