Seems my beloved Browns just picked him up. What was the scoop on him. He seems like he's got some good stats. Why'd you guys kick him to the curb?
Thanks and good luck this season (except when we play you, rotten luck that sunday )

Billy is a class act ... Never missed a practice , work-out or game since joining the Texans . The knock on him is that he couldnt block for a pop warner team . He was originally drafted by Denver in the 5th round as a WR.

Billy IS a class act and a great catching TE, but he's small and can't block. Theoretically, I understand why we didn't stay with him, but I sometimes wonder if having a blocking TE that can't be a receiver (Bruener) is better or worse. I guess they've made their choice. We all just wish our best overall TE (Bennie Joppru) wasn't injury prone.
BTW, Miller scored the first Texans TD ever. |

Billy will always hold a special place in our fans' hearts. The way the Texans' system is moving, fullbacks and tight ends are for blocking. Billy Miller was our leading receiver for the 2002 season, but the coaches hardly used him last year. He's a funny guy with a good personality, and he's a dependable player. I think as a Browns fan, you should look upon his acquisition favorably.

We'll never have a good enough TE on our team if you read some of the posts about Billy and the TE situation.
The only guy that could come in and be an acceptable TE to most people on this board is Super Man, with his speeding bullet quickness and leaping tall buildings in a single bound ability. Billy, in my opinion, is just like every other TE we have: He ain't going to get many passes thrown his way throughout a season. Our team (or maybe it's just our QB who now calls himself "we") just flat out refuses to make the TE an integral part of each game's plan. Which is sad because when Billy did get thrown balls to him, he usually helped us move the chains or get some scores, etc. But then Carr would rarely return to Miller after that sort of success. Maybe "we" would go to him in the next game, but it was only 2 or 3 passes thrown to the TE each game. If that. He'll probably do wel in Cleveland. Hope he does. |

Our hearts and love will always be there for Billy Miller! He was a true fan favorite. Wish him the best of luck with the Browns! Hope this won't come back and bite us when we play Cleveland!

miller was phased out of our offense for 2 key reasons...
1. when we started the franchise he was a more sufficient downfield target then bradford or anyone else on the roster at the time. in the past few years the talent has increased and his role has diminshed. 2. scheme change in our passing game. a. the te takes a blocking role due to our inadiquate ol. b. with a 3 step drop and timming oriented passing game the offense looks to focus on recievers who are quicker and naturally have more seperation in the formation. this excludes tight ends who will only play a role in the red zone and against a cover 2 (and just barely even then). to sum it up his skill set no longer fit the offense ,and while his role had diminished his check had not. good guy though. he will be missed.

I always thought he was one of the better pass catching TEs in the league.
