being a Carr Critic myself I will say last night he did pretty good. As for his improved pocket presence, Wand was playing RG and was getting beat like a drum at a kindergarten band practice. Which of course was right in Carr's face, so no surprise that he saw most of the rush's coming.

I think the new 3 step drop, shorter route, quicker timed plays account for the definite improvement between Carr and the WR's.

I do like the fact that Carr is spreading the ball around to several WR's and not just AJ and DD. That shows a better awareness of the field and his options and even, to some extent, that the game is slowing down to a managable level for Carr to make more than his primary and dump off reads.

Overall Carr has definitely improved over last season's ending. Let hope he keeps on this track and just gets better and better.

For everyone that is high on Carrs play against the Raiders, I want you all to think back to last preason. He did just as well, and did well in the reg season until the sack numbers started going up. Then, he started getting the "happy feet" that alot of people point out. Im not Carr bashing or anything like that, actually im a strong supporter of Carr and I think he is going to become a great player (Once he actually gets a O Line that can block). Im just saying that Carr can only go as far as the line takes him. Im all for using at least 3 of our draft picks next year on linemen. Well thats my

i dont want to start a flame war, but to be quite honest, the secondary did not look good at all!

however, i agree with the original poster, david car looked really good, he is deceptively fast, faster then i thought and most people give him credit for, and when he roles out of the pocket he has a big, huge reliable target in johnson.

when people bring that up i try to have them look at it from other perspectives.

one, i dont agree with what he did, but look at what moss has done and is about to do, after being in the nfl for 7 years he has been the most productive wr ever, in 7 years, he gave every single thing he could possibly give to the franchise and flat out produces every week. on the flipside, the vikings have always been 15+ million dollars UNDER the cap, and have never had a good defense, they could have used that money to get some mroe talent, cause if they had somewhat of a D, their offense could have taken them far, but randy was just frustrated, again, im not condoning it in any way, just saying that we should try to look at it from both sides of the fence!

i dont think he'll be dissapoitned at all this year, he finall has a solid #2 and #3 wr's in porter and curry, so now teams cannot double and triple team him like they used to, he'll get more single coverage, plus we have a great OL, which will give kerry time and LJ will run the ball nicely, so i thikn he'll be happy with what our team has to offer and i dont think he'll do what he did in MIN, Al Davis is all about winning, and granted, these past two years werent much to brag about but bringing in moss, Davis wants to won, and moss knows that is the only thing that matters, that is why we are always right around the cap, cause we try to get players to help our team, and this year it could very well fall into place.

True but u have to take into prespective that we had no rush. our secondary did not play up to par but yes i do think it is the best in the AFC, this is why its a preseason game and also i do remember gettin 2 INT's againsat yall

Texans rally behind Brown's FGs ong field goals rall

HOUSTON - Doug Gabriel scored two first-quarter touchdowns and the Raiders' starting offense moved the ball at will in the first half before the Texans rallied to win the preseason game 19-17 on a pair of fourth-quarter field goals of 53 and 46 yards by Kris Brown. The winner came with eight seconds left.

Gabriel, the all-but-forgotten wide receiver in an offense that should feature Randy Moss and Jerry Porter catching passes, beat Texans cornerback Demarcus Faggins for both scores.

On the first, Gabriel leaped over Faggins from behind to grab the ball out of his hands in the end zone. On the second, he slipped past Faggins on a deep route, put out both hands in a stretch for the pass from Kerry Collins and cruised 70 yards for the TD that made it 14-7.

Gabriel started six games and caught 33 passes for 551 yards and two touchdowns last season. He got the start Saturday as Porter missed his second game with hamstring problems.

Moss was covered much of the half by former Raider Phillip Buchanon, who was traded to the Texans before this year's draft. A first-round pick in 2002, Buchanon was supposed to give the Raiders a bookend corner to match All-Pro Charles Woodson, but his relationship with the team deteriorated rapidly and he asked to be traded.

The Texans got a solid, if only brief, outing from quarterback David Carr, who was hobbled all week with an inflamed left Achilles' tendon.

He seemed fine Saturday night, completing 6 of 8 for 43 yards and a touchdown on the Texans' opening drive, his only snaps of the game. He showed no sign of a gimpy leg, scrambling for 6 yards early in the drive and running out of the pocket to avoid two pass rushers several plays later. He rolled to his right before hitting Reggie Swinton with a 2-yard TD that tied the game 7-7.

A secondary is only as good as its pass rush. I think the Jury is still out on who has the best Secondary IMO. Our Safeties are stout, and Scott Starks is not a Cat you want to write off just yet IMO. Rashean Mathis is arguably the best CB in the South. So let the Rivalry begin.

Your secondary has allowed 543 passing yards so far.
Our stats are better with only 467 passing yards allowed.

This is going to be a fun season~!!

Can't tell yet since we haven't had many plays where he drops back and scans the field. We need to see him in multiple series before we can tell much. He had Dom wide open on that TD to Swinton but didn't look at him (would have been a much easier TD, but if you look at the tape he never looked at anyone but Swinton). He still seems to zero in on 'one guy only' too much. I see Carr chunking for around 4000 yards this year though. 23 or so TD's...so I see improvement if he can improve his vision and pocket awareness.

He was on the run to the right and to hit DD he would have had to come to a complete stop, look back across his body, and throw across his body. Not very advisable.

QB's stop and throw to players all the time. Just an observation of mine....I just feel that it is common that Carr doesn't see the field well. If you watch the tape he doesn't look. It's just a play...and was asked about what I saw...that's what I saw.
