I have heard they have been working Robaire Smith at FB to block for DD, imagine look on defense lining up against him and he puts a hole in DL you could drive a truck through on a 3rd and goal....TD!!!!

Teams seem to think that just anyone can play fullback now, and I don't think that's true.

IMO, goalline situations are the most important spot for a fullback. So you are taking the responsabilities away from a proven blocker, so you can put a big guy in there. A fullback is gonna be the one who knows where to hit a penetrating linebacker to keep him from hitting his running back. Fullback is a bout instincts too, and I just think the fullback should play fullback

Just view a "Goal Line" situation like Special Teams. You put in people "specialized" towards a very narrow purpose. If Robaire can help us in that very narrow specialized way, he might be better than our current options.
...Who knows, they may have him roll out and catch a pass with no defenders on him...you never know. I'd rather the opposition have to keep guessing than know what's coming from a mile away.

If Warren Sapp can catch TD's then why not Smith?

If a person is talented enough to play the position I think he should be given the chance to play the position. Just because a person plays offense dosen't mean they should be restricted to just playing offense. The element of surprize is always a good thing to have and if you have someone talented enough to pull it off I say utilize it.

These are just practice reps for emergencies and rare situations. With small roster limits where you have guys like Armstrong deactivated on game day you need to find guys to do multiple things.
