Thank you! Now I know who to look for while I watch.

Assuming Mariota is gone, who would you like to see the Texans take in the first? I'm thinking maybe Prewitt or one of the WR's.

We really need some speed on this team.

I'm probably Prewitt's biggest fan so I'd be on board with that. I thought he was the best Safety in college football last year so I was surprised he even returned to school.

I imagine we'll be drafting in the 12-16 range. That gives us three solid CBs to look at plus I think Rashad Greene is going to be a hell of a slot receiver. He's the key to FSU's offense.

Can't say I like him, but it has to be Winston. Where else do we find a potential starting QB? Very grudging choice, but if he's there we should put other issues to the side and take him.

I don't think there's an ice cubes chance in hell that McNair signs off on Winston

If McNair is tired of losing, he should do his due diligence. Have him thoroughly checked out on the field and off of it.

Meh, McNair admires the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots model of doing things. Do you have any idea how many years it took them to start winning?

what difference does that have to do with Texans if managed right in modern times with every advantage it could/should have already been done.

coulda... shoulda... woulda...

But...

Nothing has been to show that he's willing to break the mold

Steelers have Big Ben. Patriots had Hernandez. I'd say we have a ways to go. :shades:

If it comes to that then I really hope Cook comes out and we can somehow grab him instead. He does need work on his mechanics and footwork but I like him a lot better than Winston.

In my opinion, if you're grudgingly making a pick, then you already know you're making the wrong one.

Seeing any potential Move-TEs with the short area quickness of an Aaron Hernandez?

There's no Aaron Hernandez in this draft. This is not a great TE class.

You have a few options at the move TE position:

Nick O'Leary, Florida St (2nd round) - Not a great athlete, especially at his size. But he runs good routes, blocks in the run game, and has fantastic hands. Looks to me like a miniature Jason Witten.

E.J. Bibbs, Iowa St (3rd round) - Good athlete for his size but not near Hernandez level. He can run and catch.

Gerald Christian, Louisville (4th round) - In the mold of Eric Ebron but not as long and not as athletic.

Pharoah Brown, Oregon (4th round) - Has Y TE size but move TE athleticism, plus he can't block a lick. He's probably the most athletic TE in this class but he's a junior and will probably go back to school.

I'm grudging my making the pick because I don't really want to be cheering for a possible rapist. Fottballistically, it's the obvious pick.

Winston is just a no go for me.

I do rate him as a first round talent due to his obvious skill set. I'm not blind.

But I really do not think he will ever do anything in the NFL. Intelligence and accuracy are the two most important things for me in a QB. He doesn't have the first and he barely has the second. Whichever team drafts him better hope they can get their hands on Rashad Greene as well. That kid is ridiculous.

If you sit down and actually watch Winston throw for throw you will see what I see. He is capable of making some great throws. He made two against Louisville, both to O'Leary. But he is throwing to his first read at least 90% of the time. He is not reading the defense. The route concepts are actually pretty fantastic. His first read is almost always wide open. And his receivers make a ton of yards after the catch. When his first guy is covered he panics. Sometimes he finds his #2. If he doesn't it is pick city. He can't throw into man coverage.

He may not be intelligent, but I do not think he's slow-minded. He can make quick decisions, which you need, but he just makes some bad ones.

I don't know if he pops into you mind when O'Brien says "the CEO of your organization", though.

I agree with all of that. He's not slow. He has no problem making a decision and pulling the trigger. But he makes the wrong one enough that I don't think he's actually processing the information. He just throws.

Where do you have Hundley? Higher or lower?

Haven't reviewed his last game yet but I'm not one to get too excited by small sample size. He still looks like a first round QB for the right system. He is also doing & saying all the right things. Looks very coachable just that Mora is a defensive minded head coach. His fingerprints where all over that Seahawks defense Carol inherited, now he's got UCLA, UCLA playing defense!

Really liked Bridgewater last season he just lacked the size & physical attributes. If there was someway to combine the two he would go #1 overall.

Put Bridgewater's head on Hundley's body? Winner.

I certainly agree with that.

My problem with Hundley is his lack of development over the last three years. He does seem like a bright kid, but UCLA has improved so much since Mora got there that I find it hard to believe it's entirely a coaching issue.

He's still at the high school level as far as Quarterbacking goes. He's got the athleticism. He's got the arm.

His accuracy is spotty. He uses his arm as a secondary weapon to his legs, which I absolutely hate at the next level. And he will need a ton of mental work before he is ready.

Seems like a great kid. I hope he makes it. But there are a lot of speed bumps in his way.

Total BS bud. Culpepper or Freeman could never move like Hundley. He is also much more of a team player & not a coach killer. Really disengenious but then I thought Carden sucked big ones this weekend so draw line in the sand

You and I are very high on Fisher. I've got a 15-25 range on Sambrailo. Ogbuehi is a late 2nd early 3rd to me. He doesn't have the skillset to be a top LT although he could be servicable. He's not strong enough to be a RT. Altough he could get stronger with a pro S&C program. Clemmings is in the same range as as Ogbuehi. Although I think Clemmings will be a better pro.

I really like Robinson as a RT. Massive man with great strength and good enough feet. Robinson should be a dominant RT 2-3rd rd grade. Erving has a chance to be a steal in the 4th if he's willing to work. I'm higher on Brown than you are. Another massive man that can move his feet and play multiple positions.

OG's Scherff is my #1 rated OG. He could also play OT. But he's an all pro OG. As is McCann. I'm also very high on Tomlinson. I've got a 5th 6th rd grade on Harrison. Good feet needs to improve strength. Very fluid. He has a skillset to become a starter someday and I'm looking forward to seeing him play LT.

C's Grasu is a great player and well worth a 2nd rd pick. Reminds me of Alex Mack.

Looking at your board I would go heavy on offense and fix the OL/WR/LB positions.

Rd. 1 Parker WR, who I've got as my #1 WR.
Rd.2 Grasu
Rd.3 Jake Ryan, Fast intense OLB who can play ILB and cover TE's.
Rd. 4 Robinson
Rd.5 Mike Hull, a BOB favorite
Rd. 6 Leonte Carroo- very fast Slot guy, with KR/PR ability.
Rd.7 Harrison- Talented versatile OL. Great developmental guy.

Thid draft would add badly needed speed at WR, fill needs at OL and LB, I would like to add a CB/S but fixing 3 needs and adding speed on both sides of the ball would be good enough for me. Rick Smith could only hope tp draft this well.

Great list to go by for the TT Mock Draft. Hopefully you can update your list just before the TT mock draft.

Repped, appreciate all of the work you do.

Good stuff. Can't wait to see your defensive list.

Also, don't bother with Devin Gardner. The physical tools are there but the mental acuity for the position is not. His only chance at the next level is as a WR. Hopefully he's smart enough to make the switch during the pre-draft process like his predecessor Robinson was.

if he doesn't have the mental acuity how is he smart enough to make the switch? just saying, Lol :freakout:

He played WR as a sophomore and scored 4 TD's in 4 games. When I say "doesn't have the mental acuity" I'm talking about the ability to read defenses, go through progressions, and make smart decisions with the football.

He's a very bright and likable kid off the field, but he doesn't have the Football IQ/mental acuity/football talent (whatever you want to call it) to succeed on the field at this level.

Updated grades on skill players. Still working on the rest. OL will be out next.

When you say "grades" do you mean like "1st rounder= probable starter, 2nd rounder=could be starter with proper training, 3rd rounder= likely back-up"

or do you mean "1st rounder=top 32 player, 2nd rounder=33rd to 64th best player... & so on"

know what you we're saying just commenting on how you stated it, no problems.

The latter.

I grade the prospects where I think their value lies in the current draft class, thus the grades are subject to change if certain prospects declare or decide to stay in school.

Looking at the prospects this way gives me a better indication of where they are likely to be drafted, because they are compared against all other players, not just those that play their position. The position is taken into account during the process though.

Looking at your LB rankings I wouldn't mind wouldn't mind LB's Jake Ryan/Mike Hull/Paul Dawson in rs 5-7.

For DE depth I like Odihizuwa (I saw this guy when I was looking at Hundley ad this guy is player.) Chickillo and Anderson would be great depth guys.

Could you give me a scouting report on Mihalik, he seems like a great physical specimen.

How do you rate this very yrs DL class? I see a good class, but not a great class. Williams and Malcolm Brown are my 2 favorites. I feel that Oakman/Armstead/Edwards are very overrated. Dupree is very versatile and very underrated.

Mihalik has a huge frame but it can work to his disadvantage as he struggles with leverage. He is a limited athlete for a DE and has basically no pass rushing moves. He's also not nearly as strong as he should be considering his size. I don't see him as anything other than depth as a 34 end. Great frame though, if he could develop some skills he could have some real potential.

He has been a contributor every year at BC but hasn't been exceptionally productive. His first three years combined he totaled 54 tackles, 10.5 TFL, and 4 sacks.

This is his first year as a true starter and he has 24 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 3.5 sacks, and 1 INT so far this year.

It's a good class. There are some real studs but there are also a lot of guys who haven't lived up to what they are capable of.

Williams is elite. He is my #1 in this entire class. Goldman and Brown are difference makers in the middle. Edwards has all the tools in the world but probably not the necessary motor. McCarthy is another guy who is physically capable of much more than what he has shown in college.

I think Gregory is a little overrated as a college player but he is built for today's NFL. Oakman and Armstead should both be dominant college players but neither are. Dupree looks better every time I watch him. Very versatile player.

This class has a lot of guys who will be drafted high based on potential instead of production. Sometimes that works and sometimes you end up with Vernon Gholston.

Thanks for the work you put in to come up with these lists. I really enjoy the draft talk and truly value your opinion. You watch a lot more tape than I do. I usually watch 1 game a weekend and DVR another 1 or 2.

You have confirmed my thoughts on this class. I like last yrs class better than this yrs class.

Oakman has great size/speed and length with pretty good stats, I think in our defensive system and coaching would improve opposite Watt and Clowney on either side would benefit. Your thoughts? I feel he will be gone by our pick.

Oakman's size and athletic ability should make him a dominant college player, but he has never been one. That's a red flag.

Now, sometimes that is coaching. And honestly, with him playing at Baylor, I could see that being the issue. They aren't exactly known for coaching up elite defensive talent.

I think I actually have him rated higher than most do right now. But I think in the end we will all have him rated about the same. In regards to what he is physically capable of, he is a top five pick. In regards to where he is as a football player, I would say he is a fringe first round player.

I think he will be a top 12 pick. I also don't see him as a good fit for our defense. Despite his size, I don't think he will make a good 34 end. I think his best fit is on the strong side in a 43.

I like Edwards or even Goldman as players opposite Watt. Edwards fits more as a 3-4 DE than Goldman, but Goldman could be more successfully moved around. It would be tough to use a 1st rounder on that position in this particular offseason though.

What is it that you like about Edwards? Every game I see him in he makes a couple of tackles and bats down a pass here and there. For all of this supposed talent his motor appears to run on idle. Certainly not a 1st rd pick IMO, maybe a low 2nd rd pick.

Is this scheme related?

FSU had been playing him as a stand-up LB most of the year (yes, a 300 lb OLB) but I think they finally moved him back to the line the last few weeks.

His motor is definitely an issue IMO. He has had some very disruptive games this year but they have been few and far between.

I have the same criticism with him as I do Oakman...1st round measureables but not 1st round production.
