I'm not sure if this is process of hyperbole development, laying foundation among fellow draft clones or just passing of another College Football season, but invariably in the end, we wind up thinking a whole lot more about prospects when tape & game film are fresh in one's mind. In my own mind having watched College players over the years Brett Hundley's comp is Colin Kaepernick. I just don't want to see another one just slip by the Texans
the only comparable as of yet between RG3 and Hundley is size and the latter does run some. Hundley nowhere near RG3 athletics but then he does not have to be to earn a first round grade.

I think the Kaepernick comparison is spot on. He doesn't have quite the rifle that Kaepernick does but the size and athleticism are comparable. He's raw and unpolished just as Kaepernick was also. He does have an advantage with Noel Mazzone as his OC. They do use some pro concepts and they run an NFL route tree. He does have progressions to go through although he needs to improve in that area. He's too reliant on his running ability right now.

I really like Hundley, but he needs to prove it this year if he wants to be in the same discussion with the top guys.

So does that mean a low first, early second rounds value?

In depends on the number of bubble screens he throws. In the past he has thrown a very high number of bubble screens, this inflates his completion % and his QB efficiency rating.

agreed. Hundley like the others needs to have a very good 2014 to increase his worth. This includes staying out of trouble, Jameis!

exactly where do you think he would have been drafted in 2014 had he declared?

Bortles is looking pretty good. Footwork in pocket much improved. arm strength as well looks like he belongs in NFL. Think I would select him ahead of Winston?

So the Texans should be able to find their QB in the next draft. Even if they have to trade up the cost shouldn't be to great.

Petty is a 3rd at best talent. Mariota will get exposed once people watch the tape. To me,winston is a top pick as a qb and after that, the next qb should be in the 20s.

Agreed

Do you think the McNairs/Smith will see Winston as Texans worthy?

When you say exposed what do you mean?

I soon delete most draftees info from puter between my ears within days after draft, I think I was high on Hundley early then realized he should and probably would go to school. As season wore on, he threw only 1 INT last 158 passes & should he continue to improve, he could be first QB taken. I am very concerned and have stated elsewhere some time ago that Mariotta could have a fall like Bridgewater but that is more caution on my part than any tea leaf reading. '14 I would have guessed 14-21 area due to need of QBs. If Mariota, Winston (if he remains out of trouble) and Petty have seasons I hope for, Hundley might do well to go back for his senior year to get closer shot at top.

If he can keep out of trouble this season, yes. Kid is just awesome talent and could be a franchise player & turns 20 this December.

I would.

I was rough on Bortles at the start but by the time I had finished my research I concluded that he'll be the best QB out of the 2014 and 2015 draft classes (yet to be finalized obviously but that's where I stand right now). I would've taken him over Clowney.

I want to get involved in threads like this because I'm pumped up about football starting back up, but I'm feeling like there's really no point. I'm already seeing mock drafts with four or five QBs going in the top 8. It's almost like nobody learned a single thing from this past class.

If 2014 isn't the greatest QB class ever, 2015 will be!

I would also stay away from Winston. I know I'm in the minority but he has three huge red flags to me.

- Multiple times he's been in trouble with the law already.
- Dumb as a rock.
- Surrounded by NFL talent at literally every single position on offense.

We're seeing legal problems worse than Cam Newton's, intelligence about on par with Vince Young, and a college offense so loaded that it could make Matt Leinart look good. If I'm wrong it's my loss, but this guy isn't even on my draft board unless a lot changes.

I totally agree with this.

Petty is very talented and has a work ethic that is 2nd to none. With his work ethic/talent he has the ability to overtake Winston/Mariota for #1 and I expect this to happen.

Cook really impressed me with his accuracy/poise and the abilty to continue thru his progressions while under duress.

Bottom line for me is, hopefully Savage plays well enough to make the need at QB a moot point.

Well for a rock he did pretty well. So far to my knowledge he has stolen some crab legs and that shows immaturity.
