Default Open HC jobs for 2015??

Or... who do you think will get fired & which team do you believe will present the best opportunity?

I hadn't thought about it, but I heard Greg & Kalu talking about the Falcons possibly firing Mike Smith. So I got to thinking, which jobs might open up & which job would be a great place for a new coach (or rethread).

NYJets - I think it's extremely likely that they'll part ways with Rex Ryan. I don't think this would be an attractive job. You've got all the pressure of being a "New York" team, but you're always second fiddle to the Giants... & the Yankees, & the Mets.

Atlanta - I didn't realize Mike Smith has been there for 6 years & have had moderate success. I remember hearing a few years ago that in that teams entire history, it is only recently that they had ever put together back to back winning seasons. Of course, I don't know they'll fire Mike Smith, but I can see it.

SF - Sounds like their having FO issues, similar to the issues that sent them into a tailspin after T.O., Mooch, & Walsh.

Carolina - It's been 4 years for Ron Rivera, they've shown flashes... is it enough?

New York Giants - It's been a long time coming for Tom Coughlin hasn't it?

Pittsburgh - They don't fire their head coaches very often to begin with. However, if they miss the play-offs again, I think it could happen. But I think it's not very likely that they'll miss the play-offs, but just in case.

Anyone else?

Default Re: Open HC jobs for 2015??

NYJ - Pretty clear to me that Ryan is on his way out. They need to fire the GM and let the new guy hire his own coach.

OAK - Dennis Allen was fired alreay, and I don't think Sparano will be the coach next year.

ATL - Have they fired their GM yet? Smith could go as well but whoever built this roster is terrible. All they have is Ryan and Julio Jones, who they traded a ransom to get.

SF - Sounds like Harbaugh wants to go somewhere he has control over the roster. SF isn't giving it to him.

I think Rivera gets another year in Carolina to bounce back. They were just in the playoffs last year.

I don't think Pittsburgh dumps Tomlin just yet. They have a history of sticking it out with their coaches.

I think Coughlin has a contract for life in New York. They are terrible this year and haven't made the playoffs since their last Super Bowl, but that was only three years ago.

Oak and SF are the only two I see for now. NYJ will fire the GM Izdnik and retain Rex Ryan.

One spot that is interesting is Chicago with Trestman.

Ron Rivera could be on the hot seat; and I wonder how much longer Gus Bradley will get in Jax.

I think Sporano in OAK is a clown. There is no way they bring him back. If they do they'll be on the 'Open Jobs for 2016' list.

Let's see how dallas doees down the stretch. If they fizzle out again I don't see how you can keep Garrett.

Both New York teams are in the toliet. The NFL should be embarrassed that their largest market has such terrible football.

Regarding Atlanta: when I saw hard knocks, and saw Mike Smith behind the scenes, I thought: "Kubiak. He's toast."

Mike Smith seems way too much like a players coach. That team has underperformed, and he's got to go.

Keep an eye on Carolina, btw...

Falcons version of the "good hair brothers" is a media darling, but has done a poor job. Dimitroff's decisions have caused that franchise to wither away. It took this long for him to recognize that he sucks at the draft, so he brings in Mr. Paranoid Pioli to do that for him and posts bizarre iPhone videos of them in the car in an effort to show us he's taking care of business...?

Do they need that many chairs in their front office?

I think Rivera has done a pretty good job with a God-awful front office. Paying a chunk of change to three backs in the modern NFL, cutting Steve Smith, etc.

Rex seems like a good coach, but can't find an offensive coordinator to save his life. He will still get canned though.

San Fran is trying to run Harbaugh out of town

Raiders are the Raiders. Still trying to dig out of AL Davis' mess. New coach is a no-brainer

Tomlin and Coughlin have jobs for life IMO, though Coughlin may just want to hang it up at this point.

How does Coughlin go from winning two Superbowls to this?

NYJ: I think Rex will be fired. Although, the GM Idzik(?) has basically hung him out to dry.

Atl: I think Smith is gone too. I think he's too soft of a coach. Watching Roddy White and Jone basically take days off when ever they pleased irked me.

SF: Harbaugh will be out. He'll go back to college if an NFL gig isn't there

Car: I blame the Panthers GM more than Rivera.

NYG: Coughlin will be fired

Pitt: I think Tomlin will be kept at least another year.

Mia: Philbin might be on the hot seat if they tank and miss the playoffs.

Stl: I'm biased, but I think Fisher's the most overrated coach in the league. QB problems or not, don't like him. Sadly, I'm sure I wanted him here at some point.

Not making the playoffs in 5 of the last 6 years; albeit winning the SB that 6th year.

What I mean is, what went wrong? Is it all his fault? New scheme or what?

I think you're giving NFL owners far too much credit for either patience or complacency - whichever applies.

I don't see any way Rex survives in NY. Idzik may be gone too, but if there's only one of them left next season, it will be him.

I believe both Mike Smith and Ron Rivera are gone, and if I'm also guessing Coughlin is out. I don't think that Pittsburgh's ready to replace Tomlin, nor do I see either Trestman or Gus Bradley getting pink slipped this year.

Buffalo is up in the air, as I think Marrone will end up having a season that warrants keeping him, but with new ownership, who knows what direction that will take.

The one I think has the possibility of surprising some folks is Washington. I don't know that I think it will happen, but it wouldn't shock me if Daniel Snyder decided after one horrendous and tumultuous year he wanted to move on to another coach.

Especially since Gruden didn't fall in love with Snyder's homie RG3

I can see that. Say they were on the fence about firing Tomlin, or the Jets with Rex. If Harbaugh became available, I bet they get off that fence & make a run for him.

Sounds like the Redskins and Gruden should be added to the list.

Not the same Jay Gruden today. Looks beaten down. Acknowledged pressure of this job more than he expected. Seen this play before. Not good.
Not very promising comments if you're the employer. Then again, it's Snyder, so he might get a bonus
