Worse QBs than Pickspatrick have won the Superbowl.

Let's see how the rest of the draft and free agency play out.

Typical knee jerk bullsh!t. Let the rest of the draft play out.
There's no chance the Texans would have taken Bridgewater.

As soon as Minnesota got near a deal, Seattle had to have been on the phone with us offering the same deal. If we wanted Bridgewater, we would have taken it.

I'm going to watch some Derek Carr clips. Watch him zing that football around.

I'd be happy with Teddy at 1.28 ish because at least that shows me the Texans are not scared. They are.
Or maybe it shows that they didn't want Teddy..

I'm just happy the Bridgewater, Bortles, JFF cat fight is over on this board. Freaking insufferable.

We have QB's and we're not out of time to get another one. It's not like the market in QB's closed tonight.

If the OB regime thought they needed a QB they'd have taken steps to get one. and they were clearly not worried about it. No trade back up into the first round was made and for good reason. Didn't see what they wanted. They're either serious about Mallet or they have a guy targeted in the second that they're fine with.

I realize the folly of that kind of thinking when our season is lost per many fans expert opinions but hey, that's just how I interpret the events of this evening.

In the last 2 decades, Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer are the only really "meh" QBs to take their team to the promised land.

Our pass rush and ability to stop the run has sucked balls. We can address that in this draft by taking the two highest ranked players at their position. I take Nix, line him up next to Watt and Clowney, and smile as the AFC South tries to adjust.

Yes we still have needs at QB and RT. I'm aware.

Reminds of when everybody was so sure Arthur Brown was the pick last year and the Ravens "stole" him away.

Recently? Like who?

In the last 10 years I see...
Russell Wilson
Joe Flacco
Brady x2
Peyton
Eli x2
Roethlisberger
Brees
Rogers

There isn't a guy in there that I would even put in the same time zone as Fitzpatrick. Flacco is probably the worst and he's somehow turned into a playoff monster.

That, or they stayed pat and got shafted by the Vikes. I like your optimism but I'm not gonna have enough faith in Rick Smith and say this was all part of the plan.

Hmm...

Scenario A: Trade 2.1 and 4.1 to get to move up one spot to take Bridgewater.
Scenario B: Think that's too much of a risk. Best sit back and play it safe.

I think the track record makes it clear which scenario happened.

Yeah well now that Bridgewater is gone we better take Nix or Hageman. No QB worth 2-1 and if we're going in on the defense might as well build a wall of badasses.

And you don't think it's possible we intended to trade up to get Manziel only to have Cle jump in before we could?
Or that we thought TB would be there at 2-1 only to have Minny jump us?

Minnesota wouldn't have traded into 1-32 unless they knew the Texans were a high probability to draft him at 2-1

You're giving BOB/Smith credit where we have no evidence he deserves it. It's possible they believed they could get TB at 2-1 and blew it. A calculated risk that they lost

I don't think the Texans will take a QB with their 2nd round pick as it stands tomorrow. I would like to see them draft a NT and solve that enormous, no pun intended, hole. Definitely need linebackers since we can't really rely on Cushing being healthy through out the season anymore. I think if they do draft a QB, it'll be in the 3rd or 4th round. Can't say I'm excited about the upcoming season as it stands.

Jeez people, it's a process. There's free agents, there's draft picks, UDFA's, and then more free agents. This team didn't get a rookie QB in round one and it's a disaster? ****ing idiotic.
Gotta agree with everything Herv is saying.

I'm not a big Clowney guy, it's well documented, but we did get a supremely talented player at a position that's weak in this draft. Attoachu is the only OLB left that any good IMO (see Philly reaching for Marcus Smith). So that worked out assuming Clowney works hard and his bone spur problem is fixed via surgery.

The QBs were iffy in this draft and we avoided them, it's not a big deal IMO. There are great players at positions of need available for us with the 2.1 pick, particularly Nix or Tuitt.

I'm happy right now, I don't know why everyone is tripping out.

Agree.

With some space and time between tonight's crap to clear my head...

This is a long term re-build, no matter what Uncle McNair says. Go hard on the defense. Draft Nix, and then draft Skov or Bullough or another good ILB and let's build a fearsome front 7.

The only time I've ever felt like we won a day 1 of the draft was last year when every WR we wanted fell in our lap and we did nothing to earn it. Rick Smith probably thought he was safe and could get Teddy, I don't trust him at all.
