Default NFL Hall of Fame Game/August 3(football is back!)

Draft Review: Buffalo Bills
Quote:
Sammy Watkins was the class of this year’s wide receiver class. He is perhaps the best receiver to come into the NFL since A.J. Green and Julio Jones. He has great hands, and is a physical runner with the ball in his hands. He still needs some route running development.

There is no question that huge tackle Cyrus Kouandjio is a talent. On tape, he looks like a first round pick. Still, he has a bad knee and many teams had him off their boards. The question is not if he can play, it’s how long will he play? When you compare tape from his freshman year in 2011 to 2013 tape, there is a noticeable drop off in his movement skills. It will only get worse.

Preston Brown is a solid pick. He can come in and play Mike or Sam linebacker and allow last year’s rookie sensation Kiko Alonzo to move to Will. Duke corner Ross Cockrell is an excellent fourth round pick. He has very good size and speed to go along with top ball skills. He will earn playing time as a rookie.

Early this past season, the draftnik community thought Cyril Richardson was going to be a premium round pick. Richardson played too heavy at Baylor and got his weight down for the combine and his pro day. If he can keep his weight in the 320’s, he has the talent to be a solid starting guard in the NFL.

There is no denying seventh round pick Seantrel Henderson’s talent. Coming out of high school, he was the most highly recruited tackle in his class. The big question is does he really “want it”. While he was at Miami, he had a hard time staying clean. If that carries over to the NFL, his career will be short lived.

Team Preview: New York Giants: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/...ible-2013.html

New York Giants Depth Chart
HC: Tom Coughlin |
OC: Ben McAdoo |
DC: Perry Fewell |
ST: Tom Quinn

Draft Review: New York Giants
Quote:
The Giants needed to add a big play receiver and did just that with the addition of LSU’s Odell Beckham. What made the pick even better, is reportedly the Jets were trying to trade up to get Beckham. I guess we will never know for sure

Beckham has all the traits needed to be a top NFL receiver. He runs very good routes, has the speed to get deep, has great hands and is excellent after the catch. Throw in his return skills and he is a top level player.

Center was also a big need, and Colorado State’s Weston Richburg will come in and start right away. He has very good size and is more athletic than most centers. He also plays the game with a nasty attitude, which is always a plus. Syracuse defensive tackle Jay Bromley fits the mold of what defensive coordinator looks for in an inside lineman. He is a big run stuffer who can occupy blockers and get penetration.

Boston College running back Andre Williams' run skills are as good as any back in the draft. He is not a proficient receiver and that’s why he lasted until the fourth round. Sixth round pick Bennett Jackson a corner form Notre Dame, is an interesting selection. A year ago, he looked like a potential premium round pick. He had shoulder surgery following the 2012 season and was not nearly as physical in 2013. If he reverts back to 2012 form, the Giants got themselves a late round steal.
Quote:
Starting with Sunday night’s Hall of Fame Game and through the second week of the preseason, teams will line up at the 15-yard line when kicking extra points. (Two-point conversion attempts will remain at the 2-yard line, and extra points will move back to the 2 for the third week of the preseason and throughout the regular season.)

If there are some misses from this distance (33 yard kick), we may see this implemented.

Edit: FGs% from 30-39 last year was 89.8%. So we should see a few missed.

Preston Brown, Cyrus Kouandjio, Cyril Richardson, Chris Gragg, Kenny Ladler & Jonathan Meeks. #Bills

Other than the usual suspects of Sammy Watkins & Robert Woods, there's quite a few young guys that I want to watch tonight. Here's a few....

NBC leads-in with Wrestlemania. Didn't know they hired 3rd graders at the network.

I don't like the idea that the head of officiating will be in the ear of each officiating crew. It's easy when there's only one game but how are they gonna NSA (spy in the sky) when there is a full slate of games?

hey, it's the Bills.

I don't see a lot of diff in the way the refs are calling contact on the DBs or WRs, do you guys? They're still hand fighting way down field. I thought that was supposed to end with the new, stricter interpretation of illegal contact

That would essentially take away any fake FG attempts right? Any bobble would be just a failed try?

bills do seem to have quite a bit of talent on the roster. i doubt they'll do anything, especially with those qb's, but there is a lot of potential around the field.

Just do drop kicks for PATs and leave the damn ball at the 2. What are you supposed to do when you want to go for 2?

the option would be that you can go for it from the 2, or kick the point after try from the 15. seems like an unnecessary addition to me.

what if someone wanted to fake a field goal kick for 2 points ... shouldn't they get to start at the 2 yard line?

why fake a PAT when, like you said, you can just line up at the two and run any play in your playbook? Is the fake FG (actually PAT) that bada$$ of a play?

not at all, i was just mocking (poorly it seems) the silliness of having separate options of where to run a play.
