Default Spikes, Talib say Patriots file false injury reports

Spikes, Talib say Patriots file false injury reports
Quote:
Two former Patriots say the team put false information about them on official injury reports.

Brandon Spikes and Aqib Talib have both said since leaving New England in free agency that when they were on the Patriots last year, the team gave them injury designations that weren’t accurate. Spikes ended last season on injured reserve with a knee injury, and there were reports that Patriots coach Bill Belichick actually put Spikes on IR because Spikes had shown up late to practice. Spikes seemed to confirm that in an interview on WGR in Buffalo.

“I heard they put me on IR and stuff like that. That was just a false report,” Spikes said, via ESPN.com. “That’s just how things go there. Almost like what happened with Talib and his hip.”
Belichick Belicheating still?

Every team in the league does this, not sure why this is a story.

It's bad for the players because when they are looking for a new contract, injury concerns are part of the negotiations. It's hard to argue that you weren't injured when your team put you on IR for the year. IT shouldn't happen though, that's not what the IR rule is for.

This shouldn't come as much of a surprise considering Brady's been on the injury report for a shoulder the past 7 years,

This.

Didn't we do this with Alec Lemon? Trevardo Williams? I heard Lemon sprained an ankle or something and the next thing we knew he was on IR. Kubiak said that Trevardo Williams was a little banged up but he'd be okay for the season opener and then a few days later he ended up on IR.

Well what good is an off season if fans aren't looking for ways to bash the Patriots or to call them cheaters for anything they can. LoL!

OK, I want Watt, Cushing, Foster, AJ, Brown, whoever is going to be our starting QB and/or our drafted QB, and Clowney (if he is a Texan) listed on the injury report from now on.

Legend, folklore, hmm...
Quote:
The involvement of the Patriots serves only to complicate matters for the league. As legend has it, the Spygate-related information given to the NFL by the Patriots that was destroyed by the league office consisted of evidence of cheating not only by the Patriots but also by multiple other teams in multiple other ways. As the folklore also goes, Patriots coach Bill Belichick vowed to go public with chapter-and-verse detail about cheating throughout the league if the league were to mess with the Patriots again.

To be clear, it’s not known that Belichick delivered to the league office proof of cheating by other teams, but that would help explain the league’s curious decision to quickly destroy the evidence. It’s also not known that Belichick threatened/promised to blow the whistle on league-wide cheating issues, but it would make plenty of sense for any team disciplined for violating the injury-reporting rules to be strongly tempted to point out that other teams routinely do the same things, or worse.

So whether it’s because the NFL doesn’t want to concede that the injury reports are far from perfect or because the NFL doesn’t want to pick a fight with Belichick that the league ultimately could lose in other ways, look for nothing to publicly come of this one.

Or let's look at the flip side. Take a guy who constantly shows the signs of his hip injury over the last three years that wants a pay day. If I were that guy I'd be singing the exact same tune. Hip? What hip? No, I'm great. I was not injured last season either! In fact, that was just an evil plot from those bastards in management on my old team (who coincedentally didn't want to pay me btw).

Except his comments were made after he got his payday.
