what are the wonderlic scores for bortles, manziel, and bridgewater?
I disagree. I've listened to former GMs talk about the interviews before and to a degree it can be more like a situation of the player being on the witness stand in that some of the questions the team asks, they already know the answer. If the player comes up with a different answer. A flag. I think there's a little more to it than filling out a questionnaire on date.com. Sure there's a little fluff I'm sure but the players won't come out ahead trying to BS their way through it.

It's been said the Wonderlic results really have no bearing on it and if you do badly one can get a do-over. You know, so you have a chance to raise your test score from 6 all the way up to 8.

Last season, at least.

But had Lovie Smith got the HC job here, I think there would have been an excellent chance we'd take Clowney, but not so much with O'Brien.
I see lack of motivation as pretty much one of the biggest issues you can have (other than being a criminal). No person can teach another person who doesn't want to learn. All of the rah-rah motivation speeches in the world won't get a guy to move who's satisfied right where he is.

Here's a guy who was supposed to be an absolute physical freak. Then he comes to the combine lighter and weaker than expected. That shows a lack of dedication to the weight room.

His most recent tape shows him as a guy who's absolutely happy playing patty-cake with tackles and who stops running when the play is past him or away from him. And that's NOT the guy from his previous season(s) who was willing and able to run down running backs all the way down the field.

This guy has risk written all over him.

Clowney has a huge wingspan (as do most of the guys on that list). Dudes with long arms always look worse on bench than they really are.

Bridgewater can certainly erase doubts by performing well at his personal workout, but questions about a possible diva-like attitude could linger."

So he opts out of the combine stuff and so now he is a diva?

So Clowney isn't doing field drills because of a hip-flexor. Then he runs the 40 and participates in the vertical jump. Does that make any sense?

Maybe he hurt his hip-flexor on the vertical jump.

No, they said he wasn't doing on-field drills atleast before the vertical jump. He may have talked about that even before the 40.

As do lots of guys not on that list such as JJ Watt and his 34 reps.

The reality is it's average within a group of great players.

You've taken a much more passionate anti-Clowney stance than I have pro. I think he's clearly the biggest difference maker in this draft. And I've watched his every play in 2013 multiple times. Thing is he's very raw -- so much he can learn.

OB won't take him. Not with his separating himself from the other DLs out there. That's not a "team" mentality. You'll get to see him often, though... Clowney will be a Jaguar imo.

No, reality is it puts him in the below average group and some great players have also been below average on that test.

Saying Clowney is not the unblemished freak of all time is hardly being passionately anti-Clowney. You won't hear negative word one from me if the Texans draft him. I will just be hoping the injury gamble pays off.

Am I alone in finding it strange that a guy claims he has a hip flexor injury but still goes out and completes the vertical jump with a smile?

I'm not interested in athletes/co-workers who feel entitled. Clowney does not fit O'Brian "Team" mantra

Not an impressive combine from Michael Sam from a numbers standpoint. Only 4.8 40, 25 1/2" vert, 9.06" broad, and 17 reps.

I think (& I don't want Clowney) once a big guy gets the "lacks motivation" tag, it's hard to shake. No matter who it is, once he gets that tag, there will be no shortage of "evidence" to support it. Nothing the guy can say, his coach, his teammates, his strength & conditioning coach, no one can say anything to shake it. The only thing he could have done, was go out & get more sacks. Didn't happen.

But I watched the guy & I saw a fast twitch, explosive mofo who everyone else said was taken plays off. I saw a guy who worked his tail off to drop 10 pounds & turn in an impressive combine... so far.

Guys talked about Mario taking plays off... but he still delivered (when he was healthy).

If I've got any issues with Clowney, it would be health related. How bad did those bone spurs lead to his lack of production in 2013 & is that what we have to look forward to in the NFL... ala Mario (who is still one of my favorite players).
