With the 255th pick the Atlanta Falcons select..

Ronald Powell - OLB - Florida - SEC

Good frame (6-3, 235) and good overall athlete who also played tight end in high school. Proven pass-rush ability with explosive burst off the snap. Ascending star in 2011 before knee injuries the following season, and showed he is again a threat off the edge in 2013. Obvious athleticism when healthy.

With the final pick in the mock draft, the Houston Texans select Mr. Irrelevant...

Jeoffrey Pagan - DE - Bama - SEC

He's a beast of a man that is tough to move. He will provide solid depth at the DLine whether we are running a 3 or 4 man front.

haha my final pick was between Powell & Pagan. My write for Pagan..

Built like a Coke machine (6-4, 310 lbs)- wide and heavy - and is just as difficult to move. Anchors well at the point of attack due to size and strength. Pops the offensive lineman with a strong initial punch and shows good patience to wait for the running back to come to him, before forcefully ripping free. Active hands and shows surprising burst to close when he gets a free lane. Good recognition of where the ball is going and pursues with passion. Slid inside to defensive tackle on pass-rushing downs and projects well to this role in the NFL due to his size and athleticism. Just scratching the surface of his potential.

Default Re: 2014 Texans Talk Mock Draft SELECTION

That concludes the Falcons draft.

1.6: Khalil Mack - OLB - Buffalo

Given the re-build of the defensive line with veterans Paul Soliai and Tyson Jackson and a switch to the 3-4 defense, getting a pass-rushing OLB who is also the Best Player Available here makes too much sense to pass up. Mack also has experience playing in Buffalo's 3-4 defense where he played as a hybrid linebacker.

2.37: Morgan Moses - OT - Virginia

Having passed on Matthews & Lewan in the first round, the Falcons decide to take an OT to protect the 100 Million dollar QB with Morgan Moses. Moses should slot in at RT immediately, with Sam Baker remaining at LT..

3.68: Terrence Brooks - FS - Florida State

Brooks is a former cornerback who was asked to drop down and cover slot receivers demonstrating good balance, fluidity and change of direction for coverage. Brooks looks the part of an NFL free safety and has the potential to be a ball-hawking FS.

4.103: Yawin Smallwood, ILB, Connecticut

Boasts long arms and impressive fluidity, allowing him to be just as effective in coverage as in supporting the run and attacking the passer. Good balance, agility and speed for the position. Smallwood was asked to cover wide receivers as well as running backs for the Huskies, demonstrating the versatility to intrigue 3-4 and 4-3 defensive coordinators, alike. One of the Best Players available here (IMO).

4.139: Anthony Steen - OG - Alabama

Possesses a thick, compact frame ideal for winning leverage battles in the trenches. Surprisingly quick, both when asked to slide laterally in pass protection, as well as when coming off the line downhill in second-level pursuit.
Fundamentally and technically solid in pass protection exhibiting patience to sit, punch and slide with good pad. Maximizes arm extension without over-extending despite lacking ideal length. Keeps his head on a swivel and displays good awareness.

5.147: Ryan Carrethers - NT - Arkansas State

Carrethers boasts a big body that looks a lot like a lane-clogging 330 lbs. Yet the one thing that really jumps out about Carrethers is his stat sheet: how does a 330 lbs guy record over 90 tackles in one season? The answer can be found by looking at his tape against Louisiana-Lafayette, where he recorded 16 tackles in one game alone: Carrethers is a two-gapping machine. He is a brilliant read-react defender, holding up the OL and flowing to the ball (between the tackles). Carrethers would be great as a nose tackle in any two-gapping system.

6.182: Zack Kerr - DT - Delaware

If there was ever a poor man's Dontari Poe, you're getting pretty close to him with Kerr. Kerr is a surprising athletic man for somebody who's 6'1", 326 lbs. He's got a complete skillset. This guy has future Pro Bowl talent written all over him. The Falcons beef up the D-line with Carrethers (6-1, 337 lbs) & Kerr (6-1, 326 lbs).

7.220: Ryan Grant - WR - Tulane

Quick hands, smooth coordination and wins with timing and precision in his routes to create just enough room to work. Grant showed surprising burst at the Senior Bowl, as well as the agility as a route-runner and reliable hands to out-play several more highly-touted receivers.

7.253: Marion Grice - RB - Arizona State

Shows good plant-and-go burst with the patience and instant acceleration to let defenders over-pursue before surging for positive yardage. Talented ballcarrier, willing blocker and reliable pass catcher out of the backfield.

7.255: Ronald Powell - OLB - Florida

Good frame (6-3, 235) and good overall athlete who also played tight end in high school. Proven pass-rush ability with explosive burst off the snap. Ascending star in 2011 before knee injuries the following season, and showed he is again a threat off the edge in 2013. Obvious athleticism when healthy.

Thoughts?

Really amazing work everyone! Wolverinefan has a definite future as NFL scout, IMO!

Really hard to sit back with only one team & six picks but you guys blew through this like a twister. Here is the Eagles haul, made adjustment to DJ loss on fly, no compensation. Think they will just have to suck it up, be patient, let the draft come to them & fill holes/needs which is exactly what I tried to accomplish.

First - 22(22) Aaron Donald - DL - Pittsburgh
has a Watt like motor & mentality

Second - 22(54) Jordan Matthews - WR - Vanderbilt
pro-ready has size, speed, route tree down to step up & impact next level as rookie

Third - 22(86) Marcus Smith - DE - Louisville
adds premier pass rush talent to OLB position

Fourth - 22(122) Antone Exum - CB/S- Virginia Tech
looks like a safety to me has size, speed & big play ability

Fifth - 22(162) Wesley Johnson - OT/OG - Vanderbilt
1st team All SEC OT, can play every offensive line position, adds depth

Seventh - 22(237) Andre Hal - CB - Vanderbilt
Long, lean CB two time 2nd team all SEC CB who is a ballhawk

Jacksonville Jaggywires:

1. Jadeveon Clowney - DE/OLB
Total freak that Gus Bradley will put to good use.

2. David Yankey - OG
Strengthens the interior of a line with a shaky interior.

3. Jimmy Garoppolo - QB
Although drafted late, probably supplants Henne early on and becomes the QB they'd hoped Gabbert would be.

4. Terrance West - RB
A mid=round replacement for MJD. He might not be able to fill those shoes but he should provide some excitement.

5. Victor Hampton - CB
Probably comes in and starts.

6. Jordan Zumwalt - LB
An upgrade to their LB corps.

7. Ego Ferguson - DT
Interior DL depth.

8. Marqueston Huff - FS
Could possibly come in and start.

9. John Urschel - OG/OC
Although probably a backup, the interior of the Jags line has issues and this kid could fight for a spot.

10. Josh Huff - WR
Helping out the WR corps.

11. DeAnthony Thomas - RB
And another RB who could see some action.

The Jags just have too many damned pics.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Tennessee Titans
1. Justin Gilbert - CB
It's a lot to put on a rookie's shoulders, but he should be the day 1 starter taking over for the departed Verner.

2. Tre Mason - RB
It's a lot to put on a rookie's shoulders, but he should be the day 1 starter taking over for the soon-to-be-departed CJ2K.

3. A. J. McCarron - QB
If Locker can't get it done, McCarron could be starting.

4. Michael Sam - DE/OLB
The Titans' pass rush was anemic last year. Sam might be able to help out.

5. Chris Boswell - K
With Bironas gone, they've got to do something.

6. Jeff Janis - WR
A good value pick. This kid could develop into something special with some work. It's hard to tell just how good he could be with proper coaching.

Now. The question is... do we want to do another after this? Maybe switch teams around to let people have chances with other teams?
I would be down with this.

But it's up to WF/Blake/Dutch

I'd be in if we restricted participation. I know that's unpopular. But it happens every time; everybody wants to be involved but things start to drag the further into it you get because people stop showing up for their picks.

The only reason this thing moved so quickly was because the mods were strict on the time limits and made about 50 picks for teams that went over their clock.
