Texans could look at Zumwalt to slot next to Cush.

Damn, I wanted Steen at my next pick... Tripps a good choice too, I like him. Seems like one of those late round depth guys that could turn into a solid starter if given a year or two to develop behind someone else.

I'm not a Texas fan, but I have plenty of friends who are so I usually watch 3-4 games a year. I don't get Mike Davis.

When I say that, I don't mean that I don't get why people like him as a prospect. I understand that. What I mean is, I don't understand him as a player. The guy will get behind a DB by 10 yards on a deep ball and make a great sideline catch and then on the next play he'll drop a 5 yard hitch. It's baffling. He's very inconsistent and only seems to excel downfield.

I always thought he would be a better pro player than college player. His style is better suited for the NFL where less contact is allowed.

And he did have quite a career at Texas, albeit under the radar. I think he owns all the freshman receiving records, and he is top five in school history in receptions and yards.

Texas had pretty awful QB play during his entire career, too.

He does get alligator arms in traffic and also has some immaturity issues he will need to deal with at some point.

If you are referring to the Texans, then good sir, you will get nothing.

There’s nothing wrong with double dipping that flavorless cheap, especially if you aren’t 100% positive that first dip was enough to get that correct taste going. With that said the Houston Texans select:

Caraun Reid - DT - Princeton - Ivy League

Word on the street is that we are going to be running a hybrid 3-4/4-3. If any of that is true we need more than 3/4 capable DLinemen, which is why I think that our Boy Caraun here is versatile and can fit well in both sets as both depth and a starter.

I also believe that since we just brought in one Ivy Leaguer that we needed to bring in a 2nd so the that Ryan wouldn’t get lonely talking about differential equations and advanced probabilities by himself. Now he has someone that he can bounce ideas off of.

I really, really like Tripp as a developmental prospect. He's a great athlete, has great instincts, and is very good in coverage. Those are quality ingredients for a LB in the modern NFL. I think he has serious potential, but he's going to need to get stronger and work on his tackling. He will also need to adjust to the speed of the game. Give him 2 years as a reserve and special teamer though and I think you might have something.

I LOVE Caraun Reid.

Didn't think you would go there because of the previous picks but you are right the DL is a gaping hole of nothingness outside JJ.

My intention pre-draft was to get Van Noy in the 2nd to force Brooks Reed to move inside. He got drafted a little bit earlier than I would have liked and I had to throw that strategy out the window. Regardless, I still want Brooks Reed to be my guy playing inside w/ Cush.

I love Caraun Reid. I have him graded as an early 3rd rounder. No idea how he's still available.

The Washington Piscataway with the 2nd pick of round 5 select....

A man unafraid to wear pink

Terrence Mitchell - Cornerback - Oregon - PAC12

We've already taken two great cover guys and we are adding a third with Mitchell.

He has great instincts and has the big hairy ones required to take a chance to make a play.

I could see him making some spectacular plays and some real f-ups but he has the confidence to shake it off.

DC so far: Joyner - S, Turner - OT, Smith - LB, Mitchell - CB

Minus pick #2 this draft went exactly the way I had planned it and I know yall might hate it, but relax, cause I love it and could care less.

I'm just trying to crack jokes FYI, if you don't like anything or have reasons why you might do something different I'm all ears. My immediate reaction is to always become defensive, but I like being educated and learning more than I already know (or think I do) and always appreciate it later (unless you're dumb).

What do you like about Reed as a ILB?

He was a DE in college and know he's going to be a ILB?

Tampa Bay selects Dontae Johnson - FS - North Carolina State - ACC

6-2 200 lbs with a 31.5" arm length. He ran a 4.45 at the combine and posted a 38.5" vertical. He was also the best of the cornerbacks in the 60 yard shuttle with an 11.06 time.

He played some nickel, some outside corner and some safety in college. Versatile player that could end up as either a corner or safety. He's a hard worker and reports are that his technique has already started improving since the end of the season. Upside potential too good to pass on him here.

Purifoy and Johnson were two guys that were difficult to pass on.

TB so far 1. Mosley, 2. Cooks, 3. Purifoy, 5. Johnson

He's been training as an ILB hard the past 2 seasons in camp and it might have just been coach speak, but I feel like I remember Wade saying he would start at ILB if it wasn't for the more pressing need to have him outside.

I don't think he is good enough to be an OLB in the NFL so far. He's a failed 2nd round pick IMO, but before I throw away a 2nd round pick I generally want to give them one final shot.

That's all me going off memory, but here is a quick Google search:

Quote:
I noted nearly one year ago this week (ironically, also in the wake of another season-ending injury for Brian Cushing) that Brooks Reed has a knack for playing inside linebacker, and even Texans linebacker coach Reggie Herring has referred to Reed as the second-best inside linebacker on the team in the past.
