Ben Tate signs a 2 year deal with the Cleveland Browns. No contract details yet.

He wants to be a starter. He wasn't coming back unless we gave him an offer he couldn't refuse. AKA cutting Foster in favor of him.

We'll need all the cap space we can get once we offer Vince Wilfork a two-year deal worth $14 million. Having that mammoth run-stuffing, two blocker occupying nose tackle in Romeo Crennel's defense is the most important need for this team right now.

The purge continues... Tate is a bigger loss than most are realizing. I would have released Foster and signed 44. He will flourish in CLE.

I don't get all the bad vibes to Tate. Played through injury for us, and I will always respect him for that.

Btw... on paper, Cleveland has built a very good roster. They are just damned by that QB curse, but if they ever find one, that could be a team to watch out for.

I appreciate Tate playing through his injuries for us, although we all know it was his contract year so why wouldn't he? I wish him luck except for the week we go to Cleveland.

I'll always be thankful for Ben Tate's 2011 season. He was very productive and hard working. But 2012 and 2013 were filled with injuries and he called our fan base wishy washy. I'm glad he's gone. We don't need selfish players with a big mouth on this team anymore. Good luck in, Cleveland. If he thinks our fans are bad wait until he gets a load of the dawg pound up there. That fan base is ten times worse than ours.

Absolutely. That is why I view him as a selfish guy. He was obviously not healthy enough to play at the type of level he needed to. There was one game against the Jaguars when he had seven carries for one yard.

You and I might have been able to carry the rock one time and lunged forward for a couple yards in that game against the hapless Jaguars, but somehow Ben Tate and his broken ribs made the kitty kats defense look like a group of All Pros.

Some of the younger backs the Texans could have called up from the practice squad and gotten a better look at late in the season. I know Dennis Johnson out of Arkansas had some nice runs and was on the team playing hard. I wanted to see more of Ray Graham as well. I'd have shut Ben Tate down. PERIOD. There was no reason for him to play with bad ribs.

On a 2-14 team that ended the season with 14 losses in a row. We needed healthy players. Not some dude calling our fan base wishy washy and playing with broken ribs. Ben Tate was part of the problem and not part of the solution.

If the guy plays injured he's doing it for himself. If he doesn't play injured he's doing it so he won't get hurt more. There's no pleasing some people. Thats wishy washy fans at its truest. End of the day the man played w 4 broken ribs for us. Get over the ex-girlfriend complex and move on.

I don't fault a guy for playing for himself. The guy doesn't owe me anything, he needs to take care of his family first and foremost.

EVERY player is playing for themselves. Same reason we all go to work. Not a single one of us would show up for work if they stopped paying us.

I think Tate got a rude awakening as a FA. It's nuts how much the NFL RB position has dropped in value over the recent years. Yet, still get plenty of touches throughout the season. Going by his tweets and comments I think he was expecting a bigger payday. Imo, that's why he stayed unsigned in Cleveland so long. Trying to milk as much $ as possible.

Hope he does well

I think the deal we gave Foster was kind of high for the RB position these days. Which I'd still be cool with if he returns to 2011 form
