How far back did you go?

EDIT: I also did mine several years ago. So it's missing some data. It's the discrepancy of 2->4 vs. 2->6 that has me worried.

2004 was the Niners. I only looked at 2 win teams not wanting to get distracted by whether 0 or 4 or anything else was too different.

The assumption is Matthews would come as Munchak's assistant... and Munch would come if he doesn't get a HC gig because McNair will pay up for his services here.

Hate to say it but I hope he doesn't get it/accept it. I was not really a fan of some of the things our oline did technique wise. The line play just seemed sloppy. Not sure what Benton had going on but the results weren't that pretty. Mental lapses, wonky footwork. Was looking for a change there regardless.

Browns with Lombardi are having a tough time getting anyone to say "maybe". Guessing they're hoping one of the playoff OCs will jump at it but perhaps hearing through back-channels that they might be "No's", too.

Munch seems to be the backup plan this year. Hopefully he sees the dysfunction in Brownsville and waits for what will be a sure job next year with better front offices.

It's interesting to note that it seems that the main reason that Munchak was fired is because he refused to fire his OC and DC. The Browns are going to be interviewing more candidates after Munchak before they make their final choice.

They wanted him to fire 12 coaches to get an extension. Sell out his peers and eviscerate his power as Head Coach to remain as a puppet. Munch told them to stuff it. Good for him.

Still hoping he sees the light and rejects any potential offer from the Dawg Pound and lights here for 2014. Will be gonzo after that, though.

Funny contrast though.

Kubiak is a bad HC for not firing people and Smith a lackey who should be fired for not making Kubiak fire them but Munch gets kudos for refusing to fire and resisting just such an instruction.

Mike Vrabel might be, under the tutelage of Romeo Crennel, the long term answer for the DC position in Houston, according to NFL Insiders (ESPN)...
  • "Vrabel was the smartest player I've ever been around in my time in the NFL," Field Yates.

  • "I could say without question that he, [Vrabel], was the smartest defensive football player I ever played with," Tedy Bruschi.

  • He was known for his athleticism and leadership. He played with an edge, yet was perhaps defined by his intelligence. Holley wrote how coaches were continually surprised at the amazing recall Vrabel had of formations and tendencies of opponents.

“During his Patriots career, there was no player more respected for his football intellect and revered for his leadership by his teammates than Mike,” Belichick said in a statement Monday. “He was elected a team captain by his peers and is a player who I think everyone knew was destined to become a coach after his NFL playing career was over.

“Mike Vrabel is as well-suited for coaching as any player I have ever coached. He has a tremendous feel for people, players, coaches and what his team needs regardless of the situation. He is outstanding in his knowledge of the game, which contributed to his excellence as a player. I have no doubt Mike will develop tough, intelligent, fundamentally sound winners.”

  • “He is a champion in every sense of the word and I’m confident all of these qualities will make him a great coach,” Chiefs G.M. Scott Pioli said Monday. “I cannot overstate my respect for him as a person and a football player. If there were a Hall of Champions, Mike Vrabel would be a first ballot selection. ”
