O'Brien reminds me of one of my clients, both in terms of his voice and the direct nature of how he answers questions and presents himself. I do not sense that he's searching for the right answer, but rather is just replying directly with his thoughts.

Even sitting calm and still, he looks like a guy that you do not want to to piss off or be on the receiving end of his anger. He's got a very intense look to him, like his stare will burn a hole through your soul. I think our team needs a leader like O'Brien, someone who puts the team ahead of individuals, and who will hold people accountable.

I am truly in love with Bill O'Brien. Dude is talking about all the areas that were lacking with this team. He also seems like a very good person too when talking about his family.

I do like the new guy though. He seems like the type that could lead the team. But the substance of this conference is ZERO

I actually feel confident we can win a Super Bowl or two with Bill O'Brien as head coach. I remember watching Gary Kubiak's press conference back in 2006 and I wasn't as optimistic. I feel extremely excited for the first time in a long time about the Houston Texans. I wish week 1 of the 2014 season started this Sunday. The hard part now is waiting...

Did you honestly expect a deep analysis of the roster and plans on schemes during his first press conference?

Dude hasn't even met the staff, much less got a chance to sink his teeth into anything.

I guess substance is relative, because I felt like I learned a bit about the man who is the Texans new head coach.

Hard to focus during a Texans HC presser without the finger tapping. Adjustments will be needed.

What I learned is that I like the new head coach, he seems very intense and very different from Kubiak. That's a very good thing.

Before the conference, I was up in the air about him, after the conference I think we got ourselves a winner as head coach.

As to the content, I suppose you are right. I was expecting a bit more substance about his incoming staff, but he answered as best he could I guess.

That's what I mentioned earlier.
He comes across as a very direct, no-nonsense guy.
What you see is what you get.
He answers more questions than skirting around the issues.
(We all know that's there's a certain limit)... But when a guy hardly hesitates answering a tough question, you know he's comfortable in his own skin.

I really liked Matt Jackson's question about McNair's HC and NFL experience requirements. I also liked McNair's explanation about the requirements.

The rest of it was mostly a bunch of ass-kissing.

I have to agree. Learned a bit about him as a person and think he gave some ideas of what he is seeking among his staff moreso than personnel wise at this point which is more than understandable since staff will be the first step in the process for him.

I liked what I heard and found myself liking the guy already.

Yeah, I got to the link late, but I think that's about when I came in, that McNair said something to the effect of "We didn't need someone so much who was a player before that just understood it from a player's perspective, we needed a leader...."

It was by far the best question asked. Also pleased that McNair (and I would assume by extension Rick Smith) had some reasoning behind the decision. Still not sure I agree with it, but at least it shows something of a plan.

Enjoyed O'Brien's presser. Already a noticeable difference between him and Kubes. Glad he shut down some of the dumber questions.
