Default If you're the Texans... would you sign Peyton if he were a FA?

And Peyton Manning becomes available during FA, would you sign him?

John Fox was just fired as Broncos head coach. His 2 biggest weapons(Demaryius and Julius Thomas) are both FA. If he's on the roster by the start of the new league year, Broncos owe him $19 million so there's a chance he might be cut.

Given what you know about is health issues and age, do you think it's worth a 1 or 2 year gamble to sign him?

A part of me says yes, then I remember the Ed Reed dumpster fire from a couple years ago. Apparently Manning had been playing with a Right Quad tear. Add that to his robot neck and deteriorating arm strength.....no bueno

My whole opinion on this really depends on Mallett. Is he the guy in O'Brien's mind? If we sign Mallett to an extension then he has to be the starter. Otherwise, I'm all for Peyton Manning coming here. He is definitely better than Fitzpatrick.

It's definitely worth considering, but Elway and Fox both must have known that Manning was done.

And please put the topic of the thread in the title.

Considering what the Texans are rolling out there at the QB position I would say it would be a no brainer. However he has 2 more years on his contract and I doubt the Broncos are going to release him if he can still play. Who would start for the Broncos next season?

BTW, the Texans had their shot at him and blew it.

Brock Osweiler would be their starter in this hypothetical scenario. I'm not sure it's too outlandish that the new regime in Denver decides to go with the younger QB either.

So three weeks ago everyone would have wanted him, but now no one would all because ESPN is saying he is done? Lol!

Of course I'd take him in a heart beat. WHo would be a better off season pick up? No one would. We'd be in the playoffs for sure. Could we win it? Possibly. Peyton is still very capable of having another really good season after he gets some rest and healing time in the off season. If it comes even possible and he becomes available, we have to go after him for a one year rental.

Peyton manning even at 38 would be the best qb the Texans have ever had.

No on Peyton because I think Mallett is going to be the guy for the next 10 years. And the quicker he gets the snaps under his belt the better for this team's future.

Texans need to find their QB for the next ten years, not the next ten minutes.

Easier said than done. Its not like finding a good strong safety in the draft or free agency.

That's a pretty simplistic view. Guess OB didn't give a fig what you thought...
