Default Jayson Braddock on 2015 draft

Quote:
Don't miss "The Front Office" with @JaysonBraddock and @corryjoel tonight 8-9 pm CST on SportsTalk 790 AM Houston or: http://www.iheart.com/live/sportstalk-790-2257
Premiers tonight with agent/cap expert Joel Corry where I'm told JB will add another QB to the first round of 2015 draft.

JB is not for everybody, but I enjoy his unique takes based only on his own film study.

This is the guy who had Brett Smith as the #1 QB in the last draft, right?

Agent Joel Corry if he was their agent...
Mallett -- at least what Fitz got, no more than two years more likely a one year deal 3-3.5 million range with incentives up to 5 million to put him as a starter in a position to get a big contract later.

KJ -- starting point of JJo's current contract of $9 million per.
For Texans...
Could free up ~$15 million restructuring Watt. Yes, it's pushing an obligation down the road a bit but J.J. is "the safest player in the NFL" to restructure. Also, he mentioned technically Watt is already underpaid compared to what's happened in the league.

Yep, Smith was his 24th rated player overall, Bridgewater ahead of Bortles.

Also had Zack Martin as his top OL(7th overall) and Taylor Lewan second(8th) with Joel Bitonio(15th), Greg Robinson(19th), Jake Matthews(25th) which were pretty damn spot on. Inexact science, but he doesn't copy off other people's posts.

The QB JB sees promise in this year is Brett Hundley. Making me go back and rewatch all of his 2014 games, now.

Didn't Watt just sign this deal? That would have to be the fastest restructure in history.

That's why teams have a ton of scouts and personnel guys that go over these prospects. When one guy goes off the reservation (and Smith was way off the reservation), the rest can throw tomatoes at him.

Yes and they set the deal up to not spread everything into the future. Unless there is some kind of roll the dice for one shot gamble involving Brady or Manning it would be stupid to do it. But it could be done.

Yes, Corry was just spitballing team options as a cap expert. Talked about AJ's contract & options but I missed that part.

The show is focused on the 2015 Draft from a Texans point of view, and so other Texans topics come into play. Scheduled weekly up to and through the draft. Corry was a great guest, interested to hear future lineup and Texans specific draft talk.

I hope they don't do it, but it wouldn't be the first time a deal was redone after a year. JJo leaps to mind (in order to do the Schaub contract no less), but there are a few other out there too I'm pretty sure.

well I hope they do as it would then indicate another super star type player being brought on board and that is why the contract was worded that way. An extremely brilliant decision by cap guru Chris Olsen in his 8th year.

Use it if needed.

Anything other than an elite QB would be madness.

Okay, I'd be fine with an elite QB I guess.

Oh, and a Unicorn or Bigfoot would be alright too.

But that's it - just those three - Elite QB, Unicorn, Bigfoot.

Make it happen Rick! (Make it happen Brian? OB, Mr. McNair, Cal?)

You guys are crazy.

BTW, JB had Devin House rated over KJ.

For the value of where they were picked he was spot on.

I always said, Brett Smith would be a better QB than JM. Truth is both of their games did't transfer to the NFL. Which is why I'm glad that Smith didn't get on the JM train.

He did? Davon House and Kareem Jackson weren't in the same draft.

He said House would be better than KJ. If I remember correcty. Had him as his #1 CB in the 2011 draft.

Braddock's Early Top 20 QB Rankings

My NFL prospect rankings take only on-field talent into account. I grade these players off what they did in game action. I leave the fluctuation in draft position based on injuries, character issues etc. to the 32 NFL teams that have to make the selection.

Some surprises in there, as usual.

One thing JB does is he watches year-to-year games as well as current year to gauge improvement/stagnation.
