Default JJ Watt Not Signing With Texans

If you are as passionate about winning as JJ is, do you sign a new contract? I can see a scenario where the Texans offer to make JJ the highest DL player ever, and he simply says no, and goes to a team more serious as an organization about the product they put on the field. If that happens, I don't know anything worse that could be said about where we are as an organization. It would be devastating.

I can see him leaving only if changes aren't made with the qb. He clearly doesn't believe in Schaub...

ridiculous thread..his views of this team/franchise are different from guys like an AJ or Mario Williams. He is 1 of only 3 players on the active roster who have only known going to the playoffs...up until this year. He is already an icon in this town. Highly doubt his faith in Schaub is gonna impact whether or not he stays here.

He is not going anywhere for a while. Of course, he can voice his dissatisfaction, but his contract is prohibitive to throw around as a pivot point to make a change with our GM & HC.

Thread doesn't say anything about Schaub, its now about us as an organization.

It was very clear to me yesterday that although Schaub is a huge problem, so is the coaching these payers are getting. We have the talent to win regardless, but they aren't executing.

Why?

Have the players given up, or are the coaches doing that bad a job?

JJ can be the best to ever play the game and if he wants rings, may indeed do what the person he will likely surpass did, and move on to a team that can win. Reggie White should have been a life-long Eagle, why wasn't he? Hell, with his Wisconsin roots, I wouldn't be surprised if JJ ended his career as a Packer.

This organization better start making the hard decisions ... drastic changes ... if they want to prove to the players they have that they are worth staying with.

Was talking about once his current deal is up, or can be renegotiated.

If he is about winning a super bowl it's not ridiculous to think he would want to leave if he saw a better chance with another team. Players have done it in the past now does anyone know what JJ Watt will do at this point? No. It's just opinions that aren't ridiculous.

The reggie white thing is different for a number of reasons...FA was just coming into play as a team building manuever, his best friend Jerome Brown died not too long before and White was pretty much on the downside of his career....Watt has none of those variable in play except for the FA thing.

I mean anything is possible, but what you're describing is something someone does at the end of their careers or they have a huge issue with the coaching staff. I don't think Watt has a problem with anyone...furthermore i just don't think the Texans let it happen...as many heads that need to roll will roll to get him resigned.

It's flat out ridiculous, if J.J. Watt had so much belief in his abilities (and he does) he'd believe he could make any team he is on a winner and could win anywhere... and the main reason why this thread is ridiculous is because J.J. Watt is playing his 3rd NFL season.. He has yet (regardless of what happens this year) to have his season end without reaching the playoffs. The Texans aren't playing up to par, but let's not act like they're some NFL cesspool who nobody wants to be a part of either. This thread is ridiculous

The only guy of JJ's caliber i can think of who did it in their prime.......ironically was prime...deion sanders. Dude was probably the biggest hired gun via FA the game has ever seen..

but we all know the cheif reason why prime was doing that...money>>>>>>>>championships a distant 2nd. If championships meant that much to him he would've stayed in SF who had a great nucleus to make an all time great run.

Considering that with the remainder of JJ's contract, a unilateral 5th year extension option, and at least two seasons in which he can be franchised for a "reasonable" cost (A third would likely be cost prohibitive), the Texans have the unilateral ability to keep this from being an issue until the 2018 off-season, I'm not sure why this is on the fore-front of anyone's mind right now.

Have you heard of something called a Franchise Tag? JJ's going no where.

Lol playoffs are fun but the Texans are still one of four teams not make it to the super bowl game ever. JJ Watt I pretty sure is a confident player but he plays defense with the way this league has changed (keyword CHANGED) I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him go elsewhere when the time comes if the true issues of this team are not addressed. Every player is not going to just fall in line and accept mediocrity. Texans better not be wasting anymore money on people like Matt Schaub either.

It's always about money, which is another reason why this thread is ridiculous. Even the guy who is now the game's highest paid player said it was about winning and not about money.... Then he signed in Buffalo.. BUFFALO! Yeah, tell me it's not about money.

I have no doubt J.J. wants to win, everyone does, but he also wants to get paid (again, like everyone). It's always about money and if the Texans pony up the cash, he'll sign on the dotted line.
