A very similar pattern of behavior has developed among a majority of the media pretend scouts and talking hairdos. Much like they all spent a year in the tank for Reggie Bush and were touting him with every chance they got for 15 months, they're doing exactly the same thing with Teddy Bridgewater.

I don't think there's anything special about him at all. Had he put up the numbers he did in a major conference at a major program.... sure. If he were Big Ben's size I could see him in the 8~13 range.

I know many here think he's a day one starter... I'm not seeing it. His feet are ok, but nowhere near perfect. That & his reads are going have to be worked on at the next level. I don't like the way he holds the ball before the throw, I think his delivery is too slow..... not quite a wind up, but close, giving the defense too much time to recognize & react.

He did put the ball in some tight windows. His arm is stronger than you'd think. His ball placement shows that he has a good understanding of the concept.

I'm not as high on his "feel in the pocket" as some.

To be fair... I'm not high on any of the "top 3" QBs in this draft.

Huh? Yeah, yeah because ESPN has write ups on why Bridgewater is lauding Russell Wilson for being a guy "paving the way for short QBs" or when he makes comments about he'll make the Texans "regret passing on him" or when he he turns face as say how "cool it would be for the Texans to pick him #1 overall" or make a big deal about how of the Big 3 QBs on the draft board he's got the biggest hands surprisingly.

Oh yeah, that's right. That's not the Bridgewater hype. That's the Manziel hype.

I'm not denying that Bridgewater has received a ton of pub, but Manziel is clearly the guy most comparable to Bush in that regard this year. People have been all over his jock and refuse to believe that his game has any limitations, much like what happened with Bush.

I dunno about that, I feel like Manziel's weaknesses have been covered pretty well by the media and by scouts.

I have been seeing it too, when McClain was on the nfl network talking about the texans. The commentators immediately roll tape of Manziel, and the whole conversation is Manziel at one, no mention or tape of Bortles or Bridgewater. I understand though he is the story.

On the flip side, a guy like Aaron Murray, who I think will have a long career as a backup QB (while Thomas never takes a NFL snap), will fall to the 5th round.
Yeah, I can't stress what I have seen enough. Thomas is a terrible quarterback.

I could agree with you about Manziel in the Texas media. Outside of Texas a majority of the Manziel talk has been negative.

Actually McLain was anti JFF before he met him.

Lol, not even close to accurate. The only reason Bortles is in the conversation for the texans is b/c of media hype. Noone even knew who this kid was before this year & now all of a sudden he's being considered for 1:1?

Won't even go into the ESPN machine Manziel hype....

If not for the 6 degrees of separation for Bill O'Brien..... I don't think we'd be talking about him.

Maybe, except for that whole "they CRUSHED Baylor" thing. (Maybe that's why Jabba McClain doesn't like him)

You can't really listen to any talking heads, they have a narrative they need to put out to get eyeballs. You can only trust the tape and your own eyes, everything else must come with a grain of salt especially from non scouts or anonymous sources.

That's not entirely accurate. I was aware of him as far back as last year as were many scouts. I had him ranked as an early 2nd round pick during this season.

You are correct though that his stock shot through the roof toward the end of the year because of media hype. However, if this draft had a more prototypical QB ranked at the top then you wouldn't see as much Bortles hype. He's raw and, IMO, he needed another year in college. That said, Bridgewater and Manziel are not prototypes hence the hype around a guy like Bortles who looks the part.

thought this was Bridgewater thread? hahaha, Bortles gives me no wow factor whatsoever, I would be sick if Texans selected him to be the guy
