Default Hartline visiting Texans

I don't think a clean visit (potential signing)versus rumor should be buried, so here is a link some version of this story.

I like the idea of trading a fourth-round pick to the Chicago Bears for Brandon Marshall and drafting Tyler Lockett in the second round to be our explosive slot guy and return guy a lot more. Let the Bears over-pay for Brian Hartline. He could start in Chicago after they deal Marshall. Certainly he'd be a nice Plan C or D for sure. But let's look at some plans A and B first.

He better if he wants to win. We're about to have a major need at the wide receiver position. It's too bad we didn't know how good Odell Beckham Jr. would be or that Clowney would have those major knee injuries. Otherwise we could have traded down a bit with the #1 pick last year, gotten a stud young wideout and still hauled in more picks. I kind of like the idea of trading down with pick #16 in this draft.

You don't have to have three great WRs to be successful. Who were the WRs Wilson threw to this year? Who were the WRs Brady threw to this year?

I'm not sure why anyone would not have an interest in Hartline, if the price is right. He's better than Martin, Posey, and Damaris Johnson, so he could improve the team.

Because he's not a superstar.

I think Hartline fits what this team is missing. A guy who can really go across the middle.

The New York media had chewed up Coughlin while Beckham was missing camp and the first month of the season with a hamstring strain. They were saying that the hamstring issues were chronic since college, which didn't justify the first round selection. His breakout performance silenced the critics, but the health concerns remain.

I say this as someone rooting for the guy. His dad is a friend of a friend.

Regarding Hartline, I would not be surprised if the Texans signed him. The Patriots receivers have traditionally been a cast of above average role players. Moss and Welker were exceptions, but Moss was cut soon after he resumed his diva routine (there may be causation there, maybe not), and they didn't want to pony up to re-sign Welker. That offense just does not require an All-Pro receiver with the associated cost.

Its just a ruse. Bill B is trying to drive up the price on hartline so BOB has to spend all his new found money on an average receiver.

Diabolical!

Hartline from what I've always read and seen is a short out type of receiver with little yds after catch. He seldom came across the middle.

As he was released a few days ago and isn't under contract to a team, Hartline doesn't have to wait until March 10th to sign. While Hartline could feasibly still take visits to other teams, the fact that he's taking a physical with the Texans strikes me as indicative that interest is strong on the part of both team and player.
Quote:
The #Patriots are also interested in Brian Hartline. He's taking his physical right now w/ #Texans. #Browns still in the running.

I'm always a fan of the white boy WR, but hartline ran a 4.6 40 in his prime. I bet he runs in the 4.8-4.9 range right now. no thanks.

Paris Hilton? Miley Cyrus? They should be available and shouldn't cost much against the cap.

He's pretty much Kevin Walter. Not that it's a bad thing, but he's a chain mover not a yards after catch or red zone guy.
