I am a CK fan and he did well tonight.

TJ also looked good tonight and, I believe, held on to his #2 position with his performance.

I believe the Texans keep them both on the roster because, after tonight, there is no way CK clears waivers to go to the PS.

It's unlikely that Schaub will play at all in the 4th preseason game. Either Yates or Keenum will likely start

Could be, who knows? But as it is right now Schaub needs all the work he can get.

Schaub won't play in Game 4. We'll get some Case, maybe some TJ, and a whole lot of Stephen McGee.

If all things stay status quo and if T.J. is named the #2 come Sept 9th.. it won't make you right over those who viewed a heated competition between two players, the only farce will be Kubiak himself..You already just said "If I were being objective I would say Case has a definite edge on Tj." So if Kubiak just hands the job to TJ even if Case earned it, he might as well tap the podium and declare he doesn't believe in open completion.

and we already know Kubiak is stubbornly loyal to his starters/depth chart almost to a fault (We all saw that with the Slaton/Foster fiasco). If Slaton doesn't suffer nerve damage and doesn't lay the ball on the ground left and right and Tate doesn't break his ankle, would we even know the name of the NFL's leading rusher/top 5 back? We probably would, but he'd be playing elsewhere

Again all things equal and with you acknowledging that if you were objective Case is ahead of Yates.. if T.J. is the starter come Sept 9th, it'll mean that Keenum didn't grossly outplay him, despite if he may have outplayed him regardless. The fact that Case is already stealing snaps and playing ahead of Yates and is pushing the absolute hell out of Yates signifies that regardless of what happens from here on out, what is happening now is a legit COMP..E..TITION and Yates being named the DE facto #2 won't change that this was/is a legit competition.

With the way Case goes through his reads, progressions, and his total comfort level (regardless of no running game), does Case really look like a player who "needs to be brought up to speed"? His limitations may be physical (although I'm now having my doubts on that too), they are not mental.. Case is on speed of what needs to be done within this offense.

Now I'm also going to give kudos to Yates.. he came out ready to play.. played like a player who is BEING PUSHED for his position (he didn't start off slow for once.. was focused and on target, regardless of playing against the other team's 3's, he was motivated).. another reason why I know there is great competition happening regardless of who takes the spot. Arguments aside, this is a great problem to have. Far screams from the days of Carr and Banks.. all 3 of our QBs could play those guys under the table.

I would play him for the 1st quarter. He's looked awful dating back into last year. I extremely worried about that boy...lol

God I hope not. Stephen McGee is a Poor man's poorer bastard son of Tebow (minus actually winning anything). The only reason why he even made a camp is because Kubiak is a loyal Agg. That kid flat out can't play and any rep given to him is a wasted rep to anyone else on the field with him. As soon as camp breaks, you'll never hear his name again.

Andre Ware when it was suggested that Case was playing off of a limited playbook.............laughed.........saying that there was no way that he had not been given the entire playbook this preseason. And, Kubiak definitely knowing the type of player Case has always been, he would also know that Case would have already studied, and soaked it up and put to memory that book 100 times over while having grasped a firm hold of everything in it by now.

Schaub actually has looked good to me. That pick was a weird play, but outside of that he's looked good so far. He's going to play at least a half next week against a new aggressive Saints defense. That's enough work in the preseason to me.

The only weird thing about that play was Schaub's throw. Hopefully, he is just rusty. His arm strength looked weak to me, but I hope that was just him easing into the season.

Thanks for the heads up. It's the post-season form that will make or break us. All he has to do is hand off right now.

His arm is what it is. It looks no different than it's ever looked to me. His success is going to be based on timing and accuracy. And again it wasn't the greatest throw, but if Hopkins doesn't fall it likely isn't a pick. Incompletions do happen in this game from even the greatest of QBs and I'm no Schaub apologist.

Hopkins' fall aside.. that was a throw that shouldn't of been thrown, the defender clearly undercut it and read it, but that's a side point.

Timing+accuracy=anticipation

People talk about Schaub's weak arm. I've never had a problem with his arm, because I've seen other QB's reach elite status with the same type of arm. Hell Montana made it to the HOF

However if you're going to have a sub par arm, you have to have great "anticipation".. Schaub doesn't have that. It's the entire reason why even though we've all witnessed Andre wide ass open 45 yards down the field (and we all know Schaub can throw a ball that far), by the time the ball got there.. Andre wasn't wide ass open anymore. Schaub waited too long to diagnose what was happening and then what would be a easy TD was covered and tackled.

Schaub can't feel or see that AJ is about to break loose and can't anticipate the throw.. it's a throw I saw Case make multiple times tonight. Case doesn't have elite throwing power either, but if you can anticipate on how a play develops and can still deliver the ball at the point where a receiver is open accurately, it doesn't really matter if you have a cannon or not. How many times did Case under throw a receiver tonight..

Schaub's problem has never been arm strength. Yes arm strength can cover up some deficiencies.. (i.e. Brett Farve), but timing and anticipation will take you a long way.

The biggest crime in the NFL today is that the most dominant receiver of this generation doesn't have one single double digit TD season on his resume and I'm scared it might keep him out of the HOF (actually it most likely will). Main reasons why he doesn't.. He wasted 4 years with Carr and Schaub doesn't have the ability to lead a wide open receiver down field or throw up a ball in the red zone/Kubiak doesn't trust Schaub enough to throw in the red zone, so we always run.

Dre has all the Yards and Rec. totals, but the TD #s will prevent him from being fully recognized... and it's sad.

Exactly.

You only play guys in the 4th preseason game because:

1) You want to get them some reps for training purposes because they're rookies that are going to provide depth.

2) They're bubble guys that you're not sure about.

3) They're starters that have missed the first 3 preseason games because of injury and you want to get them some game snaps.

4) You have to play someone so you put in your scrubs that you're going to cut as soon as you can.

Of all the players playing in that 4th game, the vast majority are going to be Type 4 -- scrubs.

Most of our starters are going to sit. And most of the guys that are going to make our team aren't going to play for very long.

Vets like Schaub and Andre, I'd be surprised if they even suit up. Most of the QB time is going to go to a scrub like McGee.
