NFL Draft Countdown revamped

Just thought I would let all you draft nuts out there know that NFL Daft Countdown has been redone. There is a new forum there and other interesting tid bits.

I, personally, can't wait to see Scott's updated player profiles...They are usually pretty accurate and the sheer number of them outweighs any other free site I have seen...

Regarding the forum, it has always been there, but is was buried on the main page...It's a pretty decent forum, but there are too many dilusional Cowboy and Lion fans there...

i went to nfldraftcountdown.com last night and looked at the mock draft for next year.(I know, a little early but I couldn't help myself) Anyways, they have the Texans picking at #7 next year. There is no way they do that bad this year. I don't know what they were thinking.

Yeah I thought that was odd too. I find it very unlikely we regress; let alone we would regress that much.

I like his profiles but the Texans picking at 7? Also I dont see the Dolphins at 1. IF the draft did go down like his mock, Williams is a good pick, but I'd rather nab Hawk, Holmes, or Wright. I seriously don't see us picking below 16.

don't know about that, he's not even a great back in college. his real value is in his "utility man" ability. taking a few pitch sweeps between returning punts and lining up in the slot is the closest thing to a "true" RB as mr. bush gets.

Well I dont care what he is, but I know I dont want to see him twice a season. He might not have a natural position, but thats because hes just so damn good at everything.

I would take Williams over McNeill (we don't need a right tackle), Rod Wright (we don't need to spend another first rounder on a DE), and Marcedes Lewis (good receiver, bad blocker...sound familiar?)...Williams is going to be a great RB, but I don't think we'll take him either since we (allegedly) want DD here long term and we already have good backups (if Hollings can ever manage to stay healthy)...I probably would've given us Scott, Kiwi, or AJ Hawk, but oh well...

As for the Reggie Bush debate, I'm not sure he'll be as good in the NFL as he is at USC...In the NFL, he'll probably need to be teamed with another back in order for him to "do his thing", because he is more of a matchup problem than a RB...Whoever drafts him should realize this and use him as more of a "utility man", as jr0ck suggested, and have him return kicks and line up in the slot a lot of the time...If he isn't utilized this way, he is destined for failure since, from what I've seen of him, he isn't a good enough pure RB to make it in the NFL...

Wait a minute there buddy. Marcus McNeill is a LT not a RT and that is what he is projected to be in the NFL. Auburn depth Chart . I guess I can understand about Wright, but Mercedes Lewis?? OK, The guy is 6-6 255 pounds and has great speed and pass catching ability for anyone. Undoubtedly run blocking is the weakness in his game, but isnt that the weakness of a K2 who was expected prior to injury, and I still think he can after his injury, revolutionize the position. What about Antionio Gates, hes not a great blocker, hes decent, but i doubt we would give up a chance to get him if we had a high teens draft pick.

I'm well aware that McNeill plays LT for Auburn, but he projects more as a RT in the NFL...He doesn't have the agility to be more than average as a pass blocker at LT in the NFL...His game seems to transfer better to the right side...As for Marcedes, I'd rather have a more well-rounded TE who is adept at blocking and catching (such as Leonard Pope from Georgia), but I wouldn't complain if we took Lewis...With a little time and effort, who knows, maybe he could turn out to be a good blocker...

Its surprising that the only qb they have going in the first (Leinhart of course). Ive been regulary hearing that there will be 3 to 5 going in the first.
I dont know how they have us going at 7.

Yeah, but unless you really think that the Texans will finish with a top 10-12 pick, it's not realistic that a top LT will be available when they pick. I think the Texans will finish with an upper teens/low twenties draft slot. Guys like Ferguson, Winston, & even Scott will be long gone. I'd be prepared for the Texans looking at other positions at that point, like LB. Depending on how many underlassmen come out, this could be an excellent draft for both ILB's & 34 type OLB pass rushers.

Yeah I agree with that. I would be very suprised if we end up at 7. I am thinking we will be around 20 give or take a few as well. I am really hoping for a really good ILB...maybe Abdul Hodge. Then with the glut of top teir OTs, most of the teams who would want one early may be able to get one...then we could maybe get a pretty good OT in round 2 due to slippage...who knows though.

If we for whatever reason stink it up this year, I am really hoping for Ahmad Brooks...but there will have to be a significant reason that we would be in a position to take him, thus we may have to address that. Oh, I guess Brooks would have to come out too.

I think Bush will be a great RB in the pros b/c of his match-up problems of course that's if you know how to use him. REMEMBER NORM CHOW is in Tenn now. So of course he knows how to use him. The pick makes perfect sense. McNair needs some explosion.
