It looks like the NFL wants to get this wrapped up before the regular season starts. Per Adam Schefter's twitter account:

The Aggies loving their weed. D.Moore/Miller, maybe it's an A&M OLB thingy. Not that there's anything wrong with college kids smoking a little weed.

Throw in a little JM party time and maybe A&M is trying to become the new Texas St. LOL

The term "molly" has been around for decades. IIRC, it's basically pure MDMA, one of the ingredients in ecstasy. I think some folks are now calling ecstasy "molly" now.

Back in the '80's it was legal, and I think it was being made by pharmaceutical companies for use by psychotherapists to get patients to loosen up. (Looked it up and Merck had a patent on it in 1914).

But now that this stuff is made in underground labs, I think it's taking your life into your hands and can be very dangerous (much more so than in the '80's when it was regulated).

I have worked with this lab in the past and have found analyzed "street" drugs EXTREMELY scarey. It's like opening a box of Cracker Jacks.........you never know what the surprise will be...........anything from nothing to a whole drug factory..........

yeah, I've seen the other end of it and it's nuts. Being in a metal band for years, I was exposed to and around a lot of folks inclined to take various substances.

And some of the things people did (and do) to get high astounds me. One dude worked for a moving company, and he and his moving buddies would steal duplicate prescriptions from old people's medicine cabinets. Many of these folks had passed on and they were hired to move stuff out of the house, so they looked at these 'free' drugs as a bonus. It blew me away the stuff I would see people take in combination with each other, completely oblivious and ignorant to the potential side-effects and/or lethality of drug combinations. More than once I would hear, after the fact, of someone getting rushed to the ER. I never stayed at those parties long enough to see it.

But I've seen people snort, ingest, and smoke (I ran if anyone was injecting) things that were mysterious in nature. They thought it was "xxx", but the effects were "yyy", so they were often not quite sure. Blew my mind how stupid people would be to escape reality. I remember playing a party and the hostess came out with a bowl of white powder. She offered, and I declined as I never liked coke. She giggled and said it's not coke, it's a bunch of ground up substances. "Mystery Mountain" she called it. People put it in their drinks, rolled it with pot to smoke, and some even snorted it. I never could comprehend the mentality of putting something unknown into your system for a supposed temporary good time. I always figured to each his own and all that jazz, but I always tried to avoid those situations because people would inevitably start acting erratically and unpredictable. Dangerous to be around, IMO.

Now I occasionally see someone from back then, 15-20 years ago, and they look like they have aged well beyond their years.

I just hope and pray that I'm a good enough parent to teach my kids to stay far away from all of it and have them actually avoid it.

Sorry for the long post. CnD's mention brought back some experiences.

This has already been addressed but I want to expand on it a little bit.

There's a long, long list of things that are banned and a whole lot of them are legal, over-the-counter drugs. I'm not sure how the AAU list compares to the NFL list (and I don't feel like checking it out) but you can get bounced out of the AAU for using OTC cough-syrup or sinus medication.

Whether something is legal or not is a totally separate issue.

YOUR post brings back memories for ME. I was in a band environment for longer than I would like to remember.........everyone around me were into everything.........but I never touched any of it, not wanting to jeopardize any chances of getting into med school. While I was attending Washington University in St. Louis, some friends and I started the nation's first drug crisis hotline..........Acid Rescue. Shortly thereafter, a TV movie was produced about our organization........."Dial Hotline" starring Vince Edwards (of Dr. Kildare fame). It has now grown into a huge organization called DART, which is an acronym for Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation and Treatment. I'm sure we could spend hours exchanging stories.

wow!...that's cool, man! I would love to chat and share stories someday. I have little doubt that some of my former acquaintances could have called your hotline or one just like it.

Helping people come down from bad acid trips is something I have done many times, to the point that I used to get calls at home to request help. I stopped one of my oldest friends from going off the edge of reality one night. He was convinced that his name was "Doug" and that his penis had been removed. Another friend and I sat with him for about 5-6 hours straight to keep him from hurting himself. To this day, he remembers very little about that night. I still honestly believe that he could have ended up in a mental institution from that night if we had not intervened. CRAZY! Fortunately, he's a fine, upstanding citizen (and dad) today and far removed from doing any of that stupid stuff to his brain cells.

new report, Miller did not fail a drug test.

ďHe didnít test positive for anything,Ē an unnamed person with knowledge of the situation told USA Today.

Weíll likely never know all the details of Millerís case, just like we never know all the details of most NFL suspensions for violations of the substance-abuse policy, because the leagueís confidentiality rules keep that information quiet. The very fact that weíre talking about this before Millerís appeal has been heard shows that someone violated the confidentiality rules by leaking the news that heís facing a suspension, but when these leaks come out, they usually donít tell the full story.

But if itís true that Miller didnít fail a drug test, that doesnít necessarily mean heíll win his appeal. Itís possible to violate the policy without testing positive by, for instance, refusing to take a test or submitting a diluted urine sample.

So while the news that Miller did not test positive might seem to back up his claim that he did nothing wrong, it still remains to be seen whether Miller can win his appeal and be on the field in Week One.

I didn't fail a drug test... I refused to take it.

I didn't fail a drug test... and neither did the guy whose urine I submitted in place of my own.

There is now a report floating around that the suspension is based on him missing a test. That the test was missed because he was in Afghanistan. So I looked it up and found that 4 months ago he and Champ Bailey indeed did travel there for a USO tour to meet with the troops...........and tweeted:

The league can't be that dumb? To give one of the top DEF players a black eye and then themselves when it's revealed he was on a USO Tour? They had to know that?

Surely they expected some communication that was not given, or a make up test that was not taken..... like after you come back from Chronic Mecca..

Remember, this would have to be his third offense to be looking at a 4 game suspension.

That absolutely correct. I wasn't excusing his suspension based on the trip for just that reason. Makes you also wonder if while there, he may have sampled some of Afghanistan's finest.
